Being a native Brit I was very saddened Glen that you felt the need to look down upon another countries traditions.I love the fact that the royalty is around and all the pomp that goes with it.I too loved the queen mum and Diana God rest their souls.I may love America but I also have a wee bit of my homeland in my heart.

How very fortunate that Glen is not indicative of the populous of the US.
As the Queen has no ruling power, nor does she actually write her speech, I find it interesting that Glen thinks that having a pop at the Queen is a pop against the govt. But then his short-sightedness (and his inability to spell or add up) is showing up. Still waiting for the answer to my question ... Who is paying for your continuing education, glen? Is it your beloved military? |

Oh Duncan I shall dream of you tonight!!

I don't think the people in the US are immune to the popularity of the royalty. For example think of how much the people here, like in England followed Princess Di, and all the outcry when she passed.
Generally I think Americans like to think of some one born to that special status. Maybe it is because so many of us have to struggle so hard to get to our own individual pinnacles. Not too many are born with the station and the wealth as a whole package. Now if you want to think about someone who does not like royalty, think France. Yikes, when those guys don't like royalty, they REALLY don't like them. They had it so tough in the French Revolution. Imagine how bad things must have been for that whole thing to blow up. Good luck and long life to the royals. As for here, anyone can be royalty if they are lucky and apply themselves, think Carter, Clinton and Bush. Where do they find those guys? Does anybody remember Nixon? |

"Not too many are born with the station and the wealth as a whole package."
In the USA? Are you kidding me? Here in the USA we don't have royalty, but we do have higher class of billionares and millionares. They live in a totally different world than middle and low income people. I am not talking about Britney the coke head or Justin the girlie man or 50 cent. I am talking about people who sign their checks.... |

Di could never have been queen of england. She was to pretty and likable.
Now, Camila, on the other hand is just as FUGLY!!! as the queen. She'll make ya'll a perfect monarch. Besides, Charlie had to find him a woman who could make him look good! |

Camilla is ***** who got the man she so deserved. She will never fill Di's shoes.

Right from the off, I want to say that I am not a Royal supporter, but Im not a detractor either. they serve a purpose and they serve it well. I enjoy British history, and the part the Royals play in it.
Having said that Di was murdered by the Royal family. She was the mother of the next king of Britain. But she was carrying the child of a Muslim playboy. The child has to be brought up a Muslim if it was going to be male.(Sharia law) She did more to increase (and decrease) the Royal's popularity than anyone else. But as I said from the beginning, they serve a purpose, and they serve it well. They bring in tourist money, and that is always welcome. So, as long as Lizzie Windsor dont pi55 on my parade, Im not going to pi55 on hers. |
