I understand the difference between the two, but I'm equally split between them. I rarely make emotional decisions though if that helps.

I try to be as logical as possible but sometimes my emotions take over and I'm worthless.

Depends on what I'm thinking about.

When I was 15 I was walking home cutting through a deeply wooded park in the middle of the night and all of a sudden it sounded like something started chasing me.

I went fishing with my grandfather and a rattlesnake curled up underneath my lawn chair.

I had a neighbor accuse me of hitting their car with mine, telling me they saw me do it the previous night, only I hadn't left my apartment in 3 days for studying for finals.

Someone hit my parked car and simply left their insurance company phone number and insurance policy number on the windshield.

"rational or logical, which one," doesn't apply in "any" given situation.

IME people think in whatever way will benefit them at the time according to what hormones are flooding them, fulfillment of true motives, or whatever validates self image.

Its neither logical or rational to only think in either of those choices.
Though most seem to be able to logically rationalise it one way or the other. drinker

I think mostly reasonable/rational, but it just depends.
Difficult subject, gives me a bleedin' headache!
As soon as I see "logical" I think of my ex and the gazillion arguments we had cos he couldn't really see beyond facts, always logical. Drove me up the wall.

I am not an impulsive person. I need to think about something for a while in order to make a decision.

Actually, since you specify that your question applies in "any given situations," you have contradicted yourself in asking it.

There is only a difference between logical and rational thinking BECAUSE of differences in specific situations and or contexts.

But in general, my answer would most accurately be that I am both at the same time.

For example, most of the people who draw a distinction between being logical and being rational, AND who are dedicated to logic alone, would, if confronted by a situation with incomplete facts, refuse to draw a conclusion no matter what.

What I do, is to allow myself to augment pure logic systems into the big picture. Therefore, when a decision must be made IN SPITE OF incomplete facts, I will make what I refer to as a "contingent decision," so that I can begin acting despite analysis being incomplete.

And by the way, emotions are rational, as well as logical elements. Despite what many people somewhat romantically want to pretend.

I'm just a thinker....sometimes emotional, sometimes rational, and sometimes logical. Sometimes I just don't like to think.
