All You Can Do


Emotions coalesce
within my heart
forming dark clouds
that burden more than my soul
they burden my thoughts
my reasons
my sanity

I won't ask why
again
I won't seek answers
or closure
I don't want to "feel" another lie
there's too much pain as it is
and I am afraid
that more pain
more hurt
will leave a trail of scars
that resemble the emptiness
of the colorless blood that flows freely
from my eyes

I often wonder
though
if I am in your thoughts
if by chance
you've called my name
in the midst of a quiet moment
that reminded you
of us
and that is the trouble with deciding to let go
you never really let go
even as emotions
coalesce
within your heart
forming dark clouds
and all you can do is wait
until the storm passes
