Democrats hold sit-in on House floor over gun control
WASHINGTON– Georgia Rep. John Lewis is leading a sit-in on the House floor Wednesday to push Republicans to address gun violence in the legislative chamber. Lewis wrote a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan demanding that he keep the House in session through its planned recess to debate and vote on gun control legislation. “As the worst mass shooting in our nation’s history has underscored, our country cannot afford to stand by while this Congress continues to be paralyzed by politics,” the Georgia Democrat and civil rights icon wrote. “We urge you to lead the House into action and work with both sides of the aisle to pass commonsense solutions to keep American children and families safe.” Just after noon. the House was gaveled back into session for the regular noontime prayer and Democrats remained in the chamber to protest the lack of a vote. While the House was recessed, dozens of House Democrats joined the sit-in in the well of the House reading names of gun victims to visitors in the House galleries. Ohio Rep. Joyce Beatty, who exited the chamber briefly, told CNN that Democrats planned to stay “as long as we need to — all day, all night.” South Carolina Rep. Jim Clyburn, a veteran of the civil rights movement like Lewis, told CNN he didn’t know how long Democrats planned to keep the sit-in going. Other lawmakers joining Lewis include Florida Rep. Frederica Wilson, Michigan Rep. Dale Kildee, Louisiana Rep. Cedric Richmond, Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes and Conneticut Rep. John Larson. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2016/06/22/house-democrats-stage-sit-in-over-gun-legislation/86241864/ * Pics, Tweets. Nothing but a publicity stunt... "Hey look at me".
The bill they claim to want to vote on had already failed bi-partisan committee and failed to get 50, much less the needed 60, votes needed in the Senate. There is even some evidence pointing to fundraising by dems during this "sit in"....or would " $hit in" be more apt? _______________ The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) sent a brief email shortly after the sit-in crossed into Thursday, signed by Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) "This is an historically important moment! John Lewis has been leading a sit-in on the House floor for 11 long hours now. We’re fighting to prevent gun violence," the email reads. "The Republicans refuse to lift a finger. It’s shameful. I need your help to defeat them once and for all." The email asks for 6,000 donations and gives several options to donate amounts between $1 and $250. It was at least the sixth such email from the DCCC as the sit-in gained steam. Several were signed by Lewis, a civil rights leader and Georgia representative who has lead many of the demonstrations on the House floor. ______________ http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/284564-dems-fundraise-off-of-sit-in And after his immigration reform order failed to pass the SC earlier today, Obama chastised congress for not acting on immigration reform. He needs only to look at his own party who is currently stalling congressional business. |

We must forgive them for they are only a reflection of those that elected them. |

The $hit-in is over....
""(Reuters) - Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday ended a daylong sit-in at the chamber to protest the lack of action on gun control measures, Representative Steny Hoyer said. Dramatic tactics by legislators are rare in the U.S. Capitol and the protest underscored how sensitive the gun control issue has become after the June 12 massacre in which a U.S.-born gunman pledging allegiance to Islamic State killed 49 people."" http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN0Z91ZS There is an amendment up for vote after the 4th of July recess by R- Susan Collins of Maine.... "The legislation would give the attorney general authority to ban gun sales to individuals on two terrorist watch lists: the no-fly list and the selectee list. Of the 109,000 individuals on the lists, Collins said the vast majority are foreign nationals." https://www.boston.com/news/politics/2016/06/21/sen-susan-collins-unveils-a-gun-control-bill-which-she-thinks-can-actually-pass-in-the-senate ....still no due process for any Americans on that list....and why are ANY foreign nationals on any type of terror watch list walking around free anyway? Anyway, I'm sure dems will bltch and moan about mean ol repubs....despite NOT supporting R-Cornyn's amendment in the Senate a cpl days ago. |

You can say that again! Any American, disputes anything or questions anything, could be put on 'no fly', which would automatically, be 'no gun'..... Sneaky And rounding up foreigners.... Well, that would just be xenophobic.... Sneaky |

A gun in the hands of a free man frightens and angers the autocrat, not because he fears the power of the gun, but, rather, the spirit of the man who holds it.

There have been over a dozen Senators on that list, company CEOs, journalists, and hundreds if not thousands with simply similar names affected by it, different middle initials or places and dates of birth, etc, etc...... even minor children! Many for simply a facebook post someone disagreed with! It's easy to get on but can take years (if at all) and thousands of dollars and time in court to be removed...... even with undisputed documentation and proof! 8 Ways You Can End Up On the No-Fly List (and that's not all!) http://mentalfloss.com/article/68073/8-ways-you-can-end-no-fly-list |

What kind of sit-in has bathroom breaks and catered food? What kind of sit-in has bathroom breaks and catered food? A Democrat one... It's always the taxpayer's dimes funding Democrat protests. This is a fully catered "sit in". Here's what happened on House floor yesterday: Democrats pouted because they didn't get to chip away at your Constitutional right. Poor. Them. Conservatives Will Get a Kick Out of Which Fast Food Joint Dems Called During Their Sit-In
Seems like an odd choice for the Dems to pick, but hey, Chick-fil-A is delicious. It’s so delicious, in fact, that it was just named America’s favorite fast food restaurant. http://ijr.com/2016/06/635456-conservatives-will-get-a-kick-out-of-which-fast-food-joint-dems-called-during-their-sit-in/ * Video on link* |

Dems Hold Sit-In On House Floor Over Gun Control
IMO sit in's are little different than a 4 year old that throws a tantrum, because mom won't buy them a toy in Toys R Us, by sitting on the floor shouting "no!" demanding mommy drag them away screaming. I'm starting to think every congressman should have a secret service agent shadowing them, only all congressman have those bad child harnesses attached to them and the secret service agent jerks the leash whenever the politician starts doing something like a "sit in." |
