A second opinion, after the friend has spent some quality together time with you both...would not be a bad idea to get a different perspective..
But in the end, it's your choice alone

I think this has always happened to me without actually asking... My BF has always given me her opinion whether I asked for it or not on just about everything including men. bigsmile

I suppose I should explain that my IQ is 145 (very high) and my EQ (the emotional version of IQ) is BELOW average.

What does this mean? I'm highly logical and very smart but when it comes to matters of the heart I'm ill equipped.

My best friend is a full blown em-path, which means shes a pro at that touchy feely crap.

It's been like that for us too, I feel like I should have put more stock in her opinion in the past.

Maybe you should be dating your best friend.....since you're unsure about making a decision regarding a man maybe its natures way of telling u that your BFF is your soul mate surprisedpitchfork

She IS my soul mate, but not in a sexual way. Maybe that means none of my relationships will ever pan out. Maybe we only get one soul mate and sometimes it's not a romantic love.

I think it is difficult to fight chemistry. If you were able to walk away from someone you really liked based on someone elses opinion then I think he would be the one you will always wonder if it would have worked out. Although I do value my BF's opinion I think there are lessons we need to learn ourselves... sometimes the hard way

Isn't a soulmate supposed to be all of the things that complete u in a way, including being a romantic love?

According to the dictionary :

soul mate
noun
a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner.

So basically you guys are all saying who cares what your friends think and do whatever you want regardless?

I do care though, she's more important to me than any guy ever has been. Seems like best friend to some people means "least objectionable person in your life" lol

Mysmyka,

IN the end it is your relationship. I have friends. The only approval I look for in them is a nod. Other than that I will be with this person working out the relationship. You do have a tight bond with your friend. It kinda sounds like you want her to take the responsibility for making the right choice for you. What if she chooses wrong? Would you blame her? Of course not. Look picking someone is a right of passage. Just keep at it. Don't think negatively. Good luck, hope this helps.

No no, I'm perfectly capable of making my own decisions. I'm usually pretty good at it too, but when it comes to relationships I always find myself coming up short. Since I'm getting such a negative response I can only assume you guys don't agree with the idea that you should get help with things you're not very good at.

Trust me, both of our lives would be way easier if we were into chicks. It's just not the case.

It sounds more like that you consider your best friend family,

and I'd be willing to be if you asked 'does my family's opinion' matter when choosing a partner, you would have gotten different feedback.

I've personally never had a friend that close whose opinion I regarded as that meaningful.

I however, do have a LOT of family, and there are many, many, cases where they gave me their opinion and told me to run,(I of course didn't listen)...but every time I wish I would have.

If this is a life-long friend, and you see her being in your future then I'd say yes her opinion should matter, because if you want a future with someone, they should be able to share yours with you as well.

Now I'm not saying that she be controlling your future, just that probably best to not have her at odds with it either.

Yeah I hear you Isaac, I feel like I've spent more time trying to explain how and why shes important to me than anything else LOL

I guess I just have to realize not everyone regards their best friend the same way I do.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm sure it helps that you actually know me tongue2

Get all the help you can get when it comes to, building a house, how to hide money from the IRS, how to make money on the Stock Exchanges, which way to vote when the circus comes to town..etc etc....None of us are any good at stuff like that....well, I am....the rest is up in the air.....BUT when it comes to matters of the HEART.....you are on your own....the learning curve is huge...take responsibility for the decisions you make...just

I think you're on to something with this learning curve thing. I'm a smart cookie so not being good at something is hard for me. My overly logical brain is constantly messing things up for me when it comes to matters of the heart.

I think that dating is just a game I'm not good at and I'll probably end up with a guy I've been friends with for a long time who already knows who I am and what I'm about.
