Might be a poor comparison in a way, but ... could you ask a predator not to hunt?
The only thing you can -and should- do is to learn to recognize them so you don't fall for it. That mostly comes down to developing inner strength as opposed to dependency on others.

To clarify that statement:
when you are vulnerable (lack of inner strength) you are an easy prey. Because a vulnerable person is looking for strength in the outside world/another person (dependency on others).

So work on yourself, change yourself as opposed to demanding others to change for your convenience, and Bob's your uncle.
