Topic: The "I'll call you" lie. | |

Is it just easier to lie, than to be stand up guy and just tell the truth? I'm a big girl now... I've learned to take the good with the bad. Do we (ladies) call to find out why no call back...or do we continue to be prideful and just "let it go"?

Hey, if I said I would call you, I most certainly will.
No need to remind me every three months.....just saying...Seriously, most women do call when they say they will....and I hope we men are the same....no matter what???!!! |

Then why lie? Oh everything was great, you're adorable, you're too good...yada, yada, yada.??? because not every woman says "ok"... but i do get what saying and agree with you... sometimes when we're not into them it's just easier to slink away silently... |

Well thank you for your honesty! I will quietly continue to enjoy it for what it was and STOP fretting over what I did wrong!

Would it make you feel any better if I told you guys aren't the only ones that do that. I've not only had women tell me the same thing but people I thought were my friends when I asked them why the didn't at least call me and say "Hay we're leaving now, meet us over there" when I get to hear about all the fun they had the next day. They didn't forget to call everyone else and give them the heads up. Just tell me you don't want me there because you don't like me.
Sorry this is about you not me, I'll get off my soap box and go stand in the corner now. |

This is why dating is such a lose-lose situation for so many of us.
You need to read more forum entries, OP. For every woman who makes your complaint, there's another one declaring that any guy who decides too early that things wont work, isn't being honest and "a stand up guy," he's being picky, self-centered, and unrealistic. Same thing for the other genders. |

How do you know what the truth is? Maybe when they said it they had every intention of calling, but just changed their mind. Maybe how someone reacted to them after they said it changed their mind. Maybe the text she sent "just to say thanks," or, "just to say I had a nice time," the "just" text came across as "just a bit too clingy." I'm a big girl now
I don't know. The existence of this thread might disprove that assertion. I've learned to take the good with the bad.
See previous response. Do we (ladies) call to find out why no call back...or do we continue to be prideful and just "let it go"?
Some do, some don't. Some are prideful, some had no intention of taking any call that might have happened. Then why lie? Oh everything was great, you're adorable, you're too good...yada, yada, yada.???
It ends things quick and painlessly from their point of view. They offer you a gift. You can blame them and think they're an a-hole for saying they'll call and didn't. Most guys can take the hit of being considered an a-hole by someone they'll never see again and have no desire to date. ! I will quietly continue to enjoy it for what it was and STOP fretting over what I did wrong!
That's another reason to lie. Worrying about what you did wrong is an insecurity. Insecurities don't magically manifest because of someone's behavior. Someone has insecurities and then uses something to justify taking them out to play with. If someone is going to ask "what'd I do wrong?!?!" they're going to ask it no matter what happens. - say he'll call and doesn't? What'd I do wrong?! - says he doesn't want to date anymore? Why not? What'd I do wrong?! - says he doesn't want to date anymore because of (x,y,z) reasons? Are those the real reasons?!? I'll bet he's lying, I'll bet I did this other thing wrong, I'll bet that's the 'real' reason, he's dishonest! - says he'll call and does, continues dating? I hope I don't do something wrong!! Many times people with that type of insecurity are easy to spot. They won't listen to you say "you seem insecure. I'm not interested" They'll just argue "I'm not insecure! You're an a-hole!" No matter what, seems they're going to be judged an a-hole. So, what are their options. "I'll call you later!" "Ok! Bye!"...no call..."he's an a-hole! I did something wrong!" or 20 minutes - 2 weeks arguing and annoyance...."he's an a-hole!" Same outcome. One saves a lot of time and hassle. |

Maybe, he is watching the phone bills. Lol
Would it matter if a person wont call you ? Especially if they are not in a relationship with you? Hahaha. I dont think so. It would bother me more if my mom's not calling me. |

It's so much easier to lie than to be hurtful.
Maybe some have every intention on calling but just maybe in the meantime they met someone else who peaked their interest more. |
