What are your opinions on airbags?, do you like them?, are they safe?, or do you feel safe with the seatbelt?, Statistics show far more people die wth the airbags, reason being , the designs flaw, upon collision, the metals inside them act as schrapnel as they are violently propelled, killing the passengers, mostly infants....!

What are your opinions on airbags?

I hope to never see one, and I will continue driving trying to avoid seeing one.

do you like them?

I've never met any, but I wouldn't want my daughter to date one.

are they safe?

Cars aren't safe.
They're tons of metal traveling at high velocity.
Airbags don't make car's safe.
At best they attempt to keep crashes from becoming worse.

do you feel safe with the seatbelt?

I don't try to feel safe.
I assume everyone else is a crappy driver and I should maintain my distance from them as much as possible.

the metals inside them act as schrapnel as they are violently propelled

That was only certain airbags that were recalled, wasn't it?

I agree with this.

Do I like to be bruised from a seat belt nope; but it beats being thrown from a car often through the windshield or window.

I think traveling with infants and children should be kept at a minimum. Since I think, don't know the stats, that it is still the leading cause of death in children I really did not see the need to drag my kids around anymore than absolutely necessary.

I am not sold on the concept of airbags and I think as consumers we have to start voting with our bucks and legislation that makes it where cars are safer.

What knocks me out are the number of "missiles' that people have setting on their dash, hanging from their visors, or strewn throughout their cars that put their passengers at risk.

And I am not the least bit impressed how some of the flip and fold seats are secured.

I still don't know why they don't have a disable on cars that block cell phone reception when the engine is running. Probably because they need all the on board computers to work to get the mileage numbers better but I cringe when I ride with any kind of computerized GPS trying to tell some driver how to navigate.

An infant isn't supposed to be placed in a seat that has an active air bag.

They're claimed to save lives when used inconjunction with a seat belt but i don't really rely on them & i have a modified sports car without any airbag or ABS brakes ...when its your time to go wether airbag or no airbag your time is predestined ohwell

I would be interested to know as well because last times I check the use of set belts and air bags increased survivability by over 80% unless they are used incorrectly. I say incorrectly because in most studies were in the airbag cased deaths, 90% of them the occupant ether wasn't using a set belt, was using the set belt wrong (ie. shoulder strap across the stomach) or the victim of a child set in an airbag enabled set.
