When I was a young girl
I used to believe in love
I dreamed of white weddings
Two people joined from above-
But now Im older and question
All that I used to feel
I see the world and how it is today
And wonder if anything's real..

I used to believe in best friends
But have seen how they come and go
Recogizing they're "fair weather" friends
Only staying around for "the show"
No pickett fences-no forever in time
They're only dreams that lived
On in my mind...-

Its sad, I know to lose it all
And wake up to reality
But looking back I comprehend
How badly life has beaten me.
Alone is certain, alone is true
I wonder how I couldve ever
Believed in you...

I stare at my reflection
So often and think
Of how many times in life
I stood on the brink
Of thinking I had something
when emptiness previals
How awful it feels to have
The wind knocked from my sails
(again)

I used to believe I could trust
in something I couldnt see
But now It seems the only one
I can trust is me-
So I make my way alone in time
I know at least where I stand
Only it hurts to go thru life
without the touch of
somebody's hand

I believed in purity
I believed in truth
Now everything I held onto
Seems so misconstrude
I believed "right" prevailed
And all would work out
Now Im filled with confusion
All that remains is doubt...


Some where, long ago
I used to believe.....

here's to picket fences that still go clickety clack on a moonlit walk down a quiet street pondering the dream of a different outcome!!

Keep your head up, and fight the good fight...

I am reminded of my own feelings of betrayal despite all my best intentions... it was NOT all for nothing... it made me a better man, regardless of the temporary anguish...
