A different song


To look at man in this day and time
with technology, progression and rhyme
His mind expanding forever growing
and yet there is a stall in the sowing

One area of block and difficulty
a place of continued simplicity
Relating to other folk
Prejudice, it seems is the choke

Man has a problem with skin,
religion, gender and sexual orientation
He sees them as bad, wrong and a mess
somehow they appear less

All it takes is to open the mind
to see life without fear of their kind
to realize they do what is right
based on their life, views and fight

To realize the unknown to you
is not frightening, bad or undue
Parents teach it to their children
through talk, thought and action

Not realizing that the perpetuation
stops their children from expansion
To open the mind to a different way
acceptance though it's not where you stay

To say that the open mind is a bad thing
stifles the bird that wishes to sing
It may be different, that does not make it wrong
Everyone must sing a different song
