Looks don't fade, they change.
Looks -as in looking young- only matters when you're a model or a prostitute.
As you age, your taste in what is good-looking changes too.
When I was 20, I fell for good-looking guys my age. Now, very close to 50, I see a snotface when I look at guys in their 20s. Attractive snotfaces maybe, but they do not (sexually) interest me.
It's men 40-ish to 55-ish that I now find interesting. Men I wouldn't give a second look when I was 20, because to me they were old. I now find them sexy and attractive (not all of them of course!).
And I suppose when your 60-70ish the same thing applies.

So there is no "Then what?" unless you are a prozzie or model and will have to get a new career when society regards you to be too old.
Looks don't fade, they change, as does taste.

Yup that's par for the course. I woke up recently and saw my old man looking back at me. I've never been into people my age. Except for some close friends and exes. A little too conservative and boring. Always liked older gals as friends and lovers. Now, I have a couple of friends I have dinner with. That's good fun and conversation. We don't want to mess it up, so we all agreed it should progress no further. I like that. I'm not getting married again, 3 times is my limit. My sons are starting their lives and a partner is not going to fit in. I feel the best I've ever felt. I don't think I'm going to mess with the formula now. I have made new friends at work. They are 30,40 and 60's! That 60's guy is a Vietnam vet like my dad. He came over for dinner, now my dad has a new buddy. Pretty cool the way things work out. Old guy rambling on. Ciao!

Well as far as I can tell, I'm obviously not wanted. Not even by the law, which is a good thing in that case.

Well hopefully by that time his eyesight is also failing a bit.
And I figure if they can't handle me at my worst they sure in the hell couldn't handle when I looked great.
And I don't think looks fade so much as evolve into the person we become.

I have met many people in life that are tongue hanging gorgeous eye candy til they opened their mouth and I couldn't get a way fast enough.
Then I have met people others wouldn't think were all that great to look at and they were wonderful amazing people.

So the exterior has never been my big one.

Yes it is...
As I stated the exterior isn't as important to me as the mind and soul of a person.
