I stopped walking
away
as I had nowhere to go
you were right
for me
and for so long that's what I feared
but you never left
so I couldn't leave either

not because it was easier
but because it was harder
and the difficult times have to be endured
because without them
there would never be a moment of realization
where all that's made you stronger
is standing next to you

I stopped walking

even though I am still afraid
but each step I took
while searching for somewhere else to be
ended back to you
and that distance grew closer
each time you tried to hold me
each time you tried to tell me
each time you tried to reassure me
that my flaws
were the reasons why I was perfect

because I deserve to have a place where
my heart can call home
