DISNEY BENDS OVER FOR GAY LOBBY THREATS GEORGIA WITH FILMING BOYCOTT
http://youtu.be/WsEQWGlLniU/ http://www.cnet.com/news/disney-marvel-threaten-georgia-filming-boycott-over-anti-gay-bill/ Disney, Marvel threaten Georgia filming boycott over 'antigay' bill Amanda Kooser "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is currently filming in Georgia. Nathan Deal, the Republican governor of the state of Georgia, has a big decision to make. He has until May 3 to either sign or veto a bill that supporters describe as defending "religious liberty" and opponents call "antigay." House Bill 757 is attracting plenty of attention from beyond the state's boundaries. Walt Disney Studios, maker of many superhero and animated films, chimed in Wednesday. "Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law," Disney said in a statement. Marvel Studios, maker of the Avengers and X-Men films, is a subsidiary of Disney. The Georgia bill would let faith-based organizations refuse the use of property "for an event which is objectionable to such faith based organization." It would allow those organizations to refuse to provide services that "violate such faith based organization's sincerely held religious belief." This would also extend to hiring practices. Opponents of the bill believe it would legalize discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Pinewood Studios near Atlanta is a filming hot spot for blockbusters. "Captain America: Civil War," which opens in May, was shot there in 2015. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," the follow-up to the 2014 superheroes-in-space hit, is currently filming at Pinewood. If the bill is signed and Disney and Marvel follow through, a major effort would be required for the production to relocate to another state. According to Project Casting, quite a few other notable productions are filming in Georgia this month, including The CW's "Vampire Diaries" and Fox's "Sleepy Hollow." This isn't the first time large corporations have pushed back against similar legislation. Apple CEO Tim Cook said the tech behemoth would reduce its investments in Indiana if a similar law was to go into effect in 2015. That bill was signed into law. |

I would love to see the governor respond "you threaten us? How about if we DON'T pass this bill then you get rid of your foreign workers and rehire the americans that trained them? Or stop pushing for so many tax credits in order to come/stay here? Instead of punishing the people here for what you see as bad behavior, you reward us for what you see as good behavior?" it isn't effete intellectual snobs or "liberals" who are driving political correctness. It's corporate America
The CEO's of apple and disney are effete intellectual snobs and liberals. Bob Iger = huge all around progressive liberal. Tim Cook = huge social liberal until he's told his company needs to pay taxes, then it's time to be a fiscal conservative. |

I wonder.. Will there be bacon & sliced ham & pulled pork sandwiches on the buffet table for the crew?
Will it be filmed in a refugee community? How many gay actors & homosexual subtext & innuendos are in the script.? Or would that offend some religious residents of The Great State of Georgia. Hope no one gets tossed off a building by Sharia. |

If this were the ONLY case where corporate heads chose to behave this way, you could make a case that only what you assume are "liberals" are doing so. But this is a common behavior. The standard Corporate response to controversy has long been to take blanket actions of some sort. Why? Because of your basic conservative approach to capitalism and profits: if they think enough people will think ill of them, they will announce a change like this. |

I don't agree with discrimination in hiring either
however, such is life if the company is truly going to stand on the threat and take the financial hit it would cause time will tell |

I think Disney, Apple and every other company should do business in the state of their choosing. But it's hypocritical for Disney to claim their company is "inclusive" but threaten to EXCLUDE a state, and their residents, from revenue and jobs unless they comply with the companies policies/ideology by not passing legislation. It's actually on the verge of blackmail to make such threats.(definition: Blackmail is an act, often a crime, involving unjustified threats to make a gain (commonly money or property) or cause loss to another unless a demand is met.) As far as Apple goes......has Saudi Arabia changed it's laws to match Apples ideology? Or does the subsidiary named “Apple, Saudi Arabia.” have a different ideology than the parent company? |

Tim Cook = huge social liberal until he's told his company needs to pay taxes, then it's time to be a fiscal conservative. Bingo. |

As far as Apple goes......has Saudi Arabia changed it's laws to match Apples ideology? Or does the subsidiary named “Apple, Saudi Arabia.” have a different ideology than the parent company? Exactly. Every single large corporate entity which has come out attacking Georgia or other socially conservative states does business in countries that are far worse than the state of Georgia. They are all total hypocrites. They don't really care about care about gay rights or human rights, they just care about posturing. |

Those that preach tolerance being intolerable again....gotta love the irony.

"But it's hypocritical for Disney" It certainly is. No one is trying to push the LGBT alphabet, down Saudi Arabia, or Muslims throats or calling them homophobic, & screaming discrimination. IMO : this is not only discrimination against ALL other Faiths, but to break the sovereignty of the States here... by diversion & distractions tactics. |
