For me the answer is to feel flattered that someone has allowed you to have such an affect on them. Love and hate are opposite but equal and for someone to allow you to make such a mark on them that they are moved to say the words "I love you" the same is true for "I hate you" Of course it doesn't feel good to hear but never forget you were important enough to another human, to also be hated by them. I'll take love over hate and hate over indifference. If you're truly able to see it the way I do, it completely frees you from the sadness & confusion of hearing those words. To hurt me, one would have to say I just dont matter enough to feel love or hate for me. Hurt is lurking around every corner, it always will be. If we can meet some of it head on, then we have achieved a small victory

There was only one time someone had said it to me. He was in his usual schizophrenic grumpy mood, so I forgave him for it. He came up to me crying because he didn't mean to actually say it. I knew that he was a good person. I just gave him a hug and told him that it's alright.

I would wish them well and thank them for giving me so such a deep consideration of who I am.

It's different if the person saying it is mentally ill. At least then, I know they didn't mean it.

Then I deal with it in a totally different manner and I have found that "most" don't hate me they '"hate" the situation...

I get attacked monthly by a schizophrenic inmate lol He tells the officers "that boy is in league with the morning star" ...whatever the hell that means :)

He probably doesn't know either. Schizophrenia is such a cruel disease.

I think I feel most sorry for those who linger sometimes in the land of reality and drift back and forth because they are so persecuted and have such pain about their "ill" behavior if they are aware of it.

I am sorry for you to have to deal with the result of his dementia. Nurses have a special place in heaven.

lol, not this nurse...I'm kindling ...100% I'm a good and responsible nurse...but even the good ones end up fuel for that big grill ;-) but yes, even though it's a given that we'll tangle on a regular basis , I absolutely sympathize with him....hell, he may even be right. Anyway, I honestly get bored and stagnant there unless my fight or flight sense is activated. I kinda enjoy the chaotic moments if I'm being honest

I get that at times you need the rush it keeps you on your toes... And yet I "do" believe there are special places for people like you in heaven..

9. Yea that's very intresting...yawn.

Of course it all depends on who said it to you. If it's a child or even your own child, you should manage it differently.as a parent, teacher or baby sitter, sometimes they are going to say that when you punish or scold them. That can be normal behavior, but you have to correct it by talking to the child to find out why he/she feels that way and be understanding about it. You also have to tell the child that it's not nice or aceptable beba vigor.you might wasnt to also tell them that you are sure that they wouldn't like it if someone said it to them.

I have never heard this from an adult, but the best way to approach it is being mature about what you say and how you act. You're not going to resolve anything with this kind of person. Getting angry or being sarcastic is just stooping to their level.

One of the best answers that I've read here is your saying, " I'm sorry you feel that way." Then, you just walk away.

If it's from someone I don't know, I'll just say I forgive you. But if it is from a close friend or a relative, then I'll be upset.

Hate is the extreme form of Love......so I would say "what what whatever"
OR "Yeah! I luv ya to"....depending on who says it to me or the mood I am in....
