Is there any point in being coy about your age?

I didn't know what "being coy" meant so I looked it up...

According to Dictionary dot com, the word "coy" means:

1. artfully or affectedly shy or reserved; slyly hesitant; coquettish.
2. shy; modest.
3. showing reluctance, especially when insincere or affected, to reveal one's plans or opinions, make a commitment, or take a stand:
4. Archaic. disdainful; aloof.
5. Obsolete. quiet; reserved.

So now I know. I used to have my correct age up there for everyone to know.. until recently when I got an email that was probably meant to compliment me for looking younger than my age, but inadvertently hurt my feelings instead.

Now I choose to be 99 years old. IMHO, anyone who is 99 and still has the guts (or balls) to be on a dating site... deserves respect.

So am I being coy? Perhaps... perhaps not.

What is the point?

I agree Mz. Rosie! Coy? Ain't nobody got time for that. If you feel young that's all that matters. My make up? Well I was in a rock band in my younger days and eyeliner was it for me. If I go to a party I might slip some on. My lower eyelashes are very fine, gotta make em pop! Anyhoo. I'm an ancient soul, so being Coy went out when I was 3.

You were in a rock band huh!!!With Santana....ft. Rob Thomas...wow....tell me this is so....lol....

I don't like lots of makeup either. I never could be bothered apart from eyeliner and blusher, and a little extra when I go out.
I think I developed a dislike as a kid when I saw women in the 70s using so much, and I thought it looked horrible.

But it's not just makeup that's used to cover up things. On dating sites lots of people (esp women) use overlit, blurred or vague photos. Always makes me wonder what they really look like. I mean, it's a good way to hide wrinkles and bags under the eyes.
Their dates must be awkward... If the other meets them based on those vague photos, thinking they still look young, and suddenly an wrinkled gal turns up with bags under her eyes ...
What's the point?
But I guess we all have our own MO of what makes us feel comfortable.

Have experienced these deceptions first hand. Now I "ask" for picture, with them holding today's newspaper in front of them, that clearly shows the date...lol...  laugh

too much make up is equivalent to being fake in real life (in my opinion)
you end up looking more or less of what you really are
i prefer very light make up generally.
i have never in my life put any of those creams on my face - the ones which make your skin look as smooth as a porcelain.
after this age i will not go for heavy make up either - i wont make people laugh at me lol

Well belive it or not I was the leader of a christian rock band. We would re write lyrics to SteppenWolf, Journey, Santana, and lot of others. We would also do Stryper. We toured around Texas, New Mexico, Mexico, California, Arizona and Nevada. It was a great experience. Good times.

Well Tribu, whatever your doing works. You are a natural beauty. You know all the gals on the forums are quite easy on the eyes, if you catch my drift!
