I'm just curious.

Well, I think most people are dating because they want to find someone that they can become involved with and maybe spend the rest of their life with.

BUT! There are also alot of people who date just to get some action.

The trick for people like me is to steer clear of the ones just looking for fun and find the ones who are serious about a relationship.

That is what dating means to me.

seems like a logical question to me..umm so ya can get to know the other person, see if things click, see if there is chemistry...find out all the lil stuff that you initially dont see at first..just my guess

well for girls its to get free meals... lol jay kay. i like dating because its a way of getting to know someone and maybe having it turn into something more. its nice to have someone around to do things with. someone you actually like, and dating helps you find that person.

the theoretical point is a possible relationship, which leads to possible marriage, which leads to children. it all boils down to sex, really. the world revolves around it. of course, individual people want specific things, like me for instance.

my guess is that the tradition of buying a wife with 2 goats, a camel, and a herd of sheep has lost its edge.

I like to think of dating as "the trial period before deciding to make a purchase."

Well I am 44 and I don't date just to have sex. I date because I want to find someone to be with who I can get along with long term. Why take the time to get to know someone if you're only wanting some sex from them?

If you can't stand to be with someone for more then a couple hours on a date getting to know them, then you know that down the road, you'll never be able to live with them lol. I don't believe it's all about sex, although it plays it role. It's about finding companionship, your life partner!

It's like buying a car... You don't just go and buy the first car you see on the lot, you ask questions, drive it (or a few) a bit, then decide if thats the one you want to invest in! Once you invest it in, things can go wrong, then eventually its a matter of how much more you want to invest into it keep it running.
