World REFUGEE CRISIS EU-Turkey Migration Summit: Live Updates As European And Turkish Leaders Discuss Refugee Crisis By Michael Kaplan @michaeld_kaplan On 03/07/16 AT 12:01 PM UPDATE: 1:41 p.m. EST -- NATO patrols in the Aegean Sea to prevent refugees and migrants from crossing into Europe should begin immediately, according to a statement released by Greece Monday after a migration summit was held in Brussels, according to a new report. "The defense minister told the NATO secretary general about the need for an immediate start of the activities on the entire territory along the Greek islands, from Limnos to Kastellorizo and Gavdos and along the coast of the Anatolian peninsula. Greek positions were received," the statement said in part, reported Sputnik News, which was referring to Greek Defense Minister Pano Kammenos. Reuters reported that Britain and France have already sent ships to the Aegean Sea to patrol for migrant smuggling vessels. The summit produced a draft of a plan Monday to have Turkey accept all migrants and refugees who crossed into Europe illegally so that they may be processed officially and admitted by the EU from Turkey. If the plan is accepted, it would also call for one Syrian refugee to be sent to Turkey from Greece for each migrant who is also sent to Turkey, according to a Reuters news alert. UPDATE: 12:46 p.m. EST -- The talks between Turkey and the European Union to confront the continent's growing refugee crisis have ended for the day, but not before word got out to Reuters that Turkey has been encouraged by the discourse during the meeting Monday. EU leaders "are offering more and demanding more," an unidentified EU official told the news agency, reported Turkish Minute. Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu reportedly proposed "new ideas" that went beyond what it initially offered, though no details of those new ideas were immediately available. The developments at the meeting held in Brussels came as Europe was set to close its main migration route Monday. EU leaders are trying to finalize a deal that will send refugees and migrants back to Turkey, but the details have yet to be finalized. Original story: The European Union is willing to offer some $3.3 billion to help Turkey shelter Syrian refugees, according to a draft statement seen by Reuters. The decision comes as European leaders hosted a summit Monday with the Turkish prime minister on how to handle Europe’s worst refugee crisis in decades. “The EU would offer a further 3 billion euros until the end of 2018 to help Turkey shelter Syrians, doubling the amount of an earlier offer,” the letter read. “And it would ease visa requirements for Turks wishing to visit Europe’s Schengen area by the end of June, earlier than had been planned.” Turkey currently hosts more than 2.5 million Syrian refugees. The EU is pushing for Turkey to take back thousands of non-Syrian migrants who do not qualify for asylum in European countries. In return, Turkey is hoping for accelerated talks on EU membership and expanded financial support. Among the proposals Monday, Turkey would take back migrants and refugees from the Greek islands, and the EU would directly admit an equal number of Syrian refugees from Turkey. Refugees fleeing war-ravaged Syria as well as migrants fleeing violence and conflict elsewhere in the Middle East often travel through Turkey in order to reach Europe. More than a million such people entered Europe last year, mainly crossing illegally by boat from Turkey into Greece. Eight countries have imposed border controls, and thousands of migrants are trapped in Greece after Macedonia severely restricted border crossings. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who has welcomed hundreds of thousands of refugees into Germany, said she was expecting a “difficult discussion,” as European countries have differed on route closures. "Today is about finding a lasting solution together with Turkey … trying to find a way to stop illegal migration and improving the living conditions for the refugees," she said. All 28 EU leaders were expected to continue through a second session and a dinner with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu. European leaders believe Turkey’s role is critical in stemming the flow of migration into the continent. |

http://order-order.com/2016/03/08/eu-gives-turkey-e6-billion-and-vows-to-scrap-visas-by-june/
The midnight deal struck in Brussels means the EU and Turkey have agreed: to return all new irregular migrants crossing from Turkey into the Greek islands with the costs covered by the EU to accelerate the implementation of the visa liberalisation roadmap with a view to lifting visa requirements for Turkish citizens at the latest by the end of June 2016 the opening of new chapters in the accession negotiations as soon as possible So the EU is giving Turkey an initial €3 billion in exchange for taking back Syrian migrants, possibly followed by another €3 billion, will lift the visa requirements for Turks entering the EU within three months and will open talks to let Turkey join the EU as soon as possible. As Britons go to the polls on June 23, the EU will be scrapping visas for Turkish migrants and accelerating the process for Turkey to join the EU… Quote of the Day Nigel Farage on the Euro-Limo scandal…. “There is a huge fleet of limos and Mercedes costing 5 million euro with a crew of professional drivers downstairs in the European Parliament. This service is laid on for all 751 MEPs. There is a chauffeur-driven car at an MEP’s disposal all the time you are in Strasbourg or Brussels. If ordinary taxpayers knew how their money was being blasted around in Brussels they would come and burn this place down to the ground in disgust. The EU is a racket to take money from those who don’t work for the EU and transfer it to people who do work for the EU. “ |

Published 9 March 2016 The Macedonian side of the border zone with Greece remained empty on March 9, after the government in Skopje closed entry to any refugees and migrants. http://www.rt.com/news/337643-refugees-police-clashes-greece/
rt.com Clashes erupt between refugees, riot police at Greece's Idomeni camp (VIDEO) Clashes have broken out between police and asylum seekers at Idomeni refugee camp in Greece, where over 11,000 people have been stranded since Balkan countries shut down their borders in late February. Video footage from Ruptly shows police in riot gear lined up at the camp, with one officer pushing a refugee who angrily shouts at the policeman. Crowds of refugees can also be seen making their way towards a police line, eventually shoving the officers, who push back with their riot shields and batons. An estimated 11,500 people have been stranded at the camp after Balkan states closed their borders, cutting off the main refugee route to the European Union. Camp residents are living in squalid conditions as they await their fate. The camp has been described as a “modern Dachau” by Greek Interior Minister Panagiotis Kouroumplis. On Sunday, residents were given false hope that the Greek border with Macedonia would be opened. The optimism appeared to have been triggered by rumors that journalists and Red Cross officials would help refugees force their way across the fence into Macedonia, a Syrian refugee told Athens News Agency (ANA) The news led to around 300 people gathering by the railway tracks and border fence in a largely peaceful demonstration observed by Greek police in riot gear, AFP reported. However, their hopes of leaving the camp were dashed when Greek officials announced on loudspeakers that the crossing would remain closed. The Balkan countries' border closures have created a build-up of around 50,000 migrants and refugees in Greece. The European Union reached a deal with Turkey earlier this month, which will see all illegal migrants reaching Greece from Turkey being sent back. In return, the EU will take in thousands of Syrian refugees directly from Turkey. It comes as Europe continues to face the biggest refugee crisis since World War II, with over a million migrants arriving on the continent last year. Most refugees come from Syria, where a civil war has killed 250,000 people and displaced more than 12 million since 2011, according to UN figures. |

...why are so many Muslim immigrants compelled to flee their own religion?"
Perhaps some do. But mostly, and particularly in recent times, it is not usual immigration. It is hijra immigration in order to spread Islam, to claim new lands "for Allah." That's one of the method how they think they will be rewarded "in heaven." Either jihad in name of Islam, of hijra migration. Easy way out from strict and probably impossible 100% adherence to multiple sharia rules, particularly if one believe that Allah is so capricious. Because of ancient feud, and belief that one's neighbor is worse Muslim or non-Muslim at all. That's one. Another is supremacist nature of Islam, which does not tolerate other beliefs system and tries to dominate by force, all according to deeds of Muhammad. Voytek Gagalka |

Greece to raze Idomeni refugee camp, relocate migrants to ‘hospitality areas’
Greek authorities have launched preparations for dismantling the troublesome Idomeni refugee camp on the border with Macedonia, dubbed the ‘modern Dachau.’ The camp houses over 11,000 asylum seekers who have been stuck there since early March. “The transfer of refugees trapped at Idomeni to hospitality areas will probably begin [on Tuesday],” the spokesman for the Greek Migration Coordination service, Giorgos Kyritsis, told the state ANA news agency. He added, however, that the plan is to clear the area no sooner than in a week’s time and without the use of force. “There will be a police presence and we will be persuasive, but we do not foresee pervasive use of force to make all these people leave in one go,” the official said. Another government source cited by ANA said loudspeakers were already urging Idomeni inhabitants to get ready to leave. Around a dozen police squads arrived on the camp's periphery from Athens and Thessaloniki, including up to a hundred officers, after having strengthened roadside checks around the camp and setting up two checkpoints. One is some 20 kilometers from the camp, the other is just two kilometers away. A total of some 50 riot police squads are to be deployed to Idomeni, a police source told Reuters news agency, noting that migrants blocking the railway are to be removed first. A group of refugees has hijacked a train carriage at Idomeni station and attempted to use it to break through the police barricade in April, with refugees often blocking the tracks for the passing trains ever since. “The rail track will open for the train to pass through normally but the fundamental thing is for the people to be transferred to where the conditions are humane,” Kyritsis said. “A thing like Idomeni cannot be maintained. It only serves the interests of smugglers,” he added. Kyritsis notes that inhabitants of Idomeni will mostly be moved to camps at former industrial facilities as some 6,000 temporary housing places have been created for this purpose in Thessaloniki area. “Removing all the refugees from the disgrace which is Idomeni is in their own interest,” the official told state TV on Monday. Some 400 people have already agreed to leave the camp since Sunday, while 400 more are expected to follow them on Monday night, according to local police. The Greek government already attempted to empty Idomeni several times in the past months, amid growing discontent from farmers in the region, tensions with neighboring Macedonia over the control of border-passages and repeated clashes between camp inhabitants and police. In April, after an attempt to break through the fence, some 260 refugees were injured when Macedonian police used tear gas to stop the mob from crossing the border. Medics at the scene claimed officers also fired rubber bullets at the refugees, but Macedonian authorities denied the allegations. Humanitarian organizations have been speaking out over poor living conditions at Idomeni, which threaten the health and safety of the people stuck there. The camp has even been described as a “modern Dachau” by Greek Interior Minister Panagiotis Kouroumplis, who compared it with the infamous Nazi concentration camp. Europe continues to face the biggest refugee crisis since World War II, with over a million migrants arriving last year. Many refugees come from Syria, where a civil war has killed 250,000 people and displaced more than 12 million since 2011, according to UN figures. The European Union struck a deal with Turkey in March, under which illegal migrants reaching Greece from Turkey are to be returned. With the Balkan route closed in March, the number of migrants arriving on the Greek islands in April dropped by 90 percent compared to the previous month, according to Frontex, the EU’s border agency, which monitors the refugee flows. Still, it states that up to 50,000 refugees remain stranded in the north of the country, with fewer than 500 people sent back to Turkey since March 20. http://www.rt.com/news/344149-greece-idomeni-camp-relocation/ ---------------- "Modern Dachau’: Greek minister slams conditions at Idomeni refugee camp http://www.rt.com/news/336166-greece-idomeni-refugees-dachau/ * Pics & Videos* The number of migrants arriving on the Greek islands in April plunged by 90% compared to the previous month, reaching fewer than 2,700. The drop is a result of several factors, including The EU-Turkey agreement and STRICKER border policies applied by the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia at its border with Greece. http://frontex.europa.eu/news/number-of-migrants-arriving-in-greece-dropped-90-in-april-6e7oBw/ |

Thousands evacuated as major fire engulfs Greek refugee camp
— RT News http://www.rt.com/news/359924-fire-refugee-camp-evacuated/ * Video & Tweets* Around 4.000 refugees have been evacuated by the authorities on the Greek island of Lesbos after a massive blaze swept through a migrants’ camp. "Between 3,000 and 4,000 migrants have fled the camp of Moria" due to the fire, a police source told AFP. According to officials, the blaze has been contained with authorities now working to distribute basic provisions such as water to the affected refugees. Around 150 minors evacuated from the camp were moved to the children’s village on the island, a source told AFP. He added that there was “no doubt” that the fire was set off by the inhabitants of the compound. The Moria camp is a key hub for refugees on the island, housing around 5,600 migrants. Prior to the fire, the compound saw two separate protests, one staged by a group of migrants and one by local residents, AFP reports. According to the news agency, citing local media outlets, the rallies turned into riots. The rally staged by the locals was demanding that the authorities clear the camp and deport the migrants. AFP reports that far-right activists had infiltrated the demonstration, shouting anti-migrant slogans and lashing out at officials and refugee helpers. Reports indicate that earlier the migrants discovered they might be deported to Turkey, leading some 300 of them to stage their own rally in protest. However, police intercepted the refugees and sent them back to the camp. Apart from the blaze inside the camp, two more fires were discovered among the olive trees near Moria, but firefighters managed to extinguish them swiftly. Greece is currently housing over 60,000 refugees, located on several islands. Lesbos hosts one of the camps, but the facility has been particularly criticized by human rights groups for being overcrowded and suffering from unsanitary conditions. Government data cited by AFP says that five Greek islands are housing some 13,000 refugees, while originally they were designed to accommodate less than 8,000. |
