Coffee ... Alcohol tends to change people, not always in a bad way, but if you don't know each other all that well yet ... you may end up doing or saying stuff under the influence that you regret later. Or that the other may find weird, while if they'd known you better, they might have found it hilarious.

What is the best invitation to make good friends; a coffee or a drink? Depends on who you're asking. Some people are teetotalists. Some people have their own special bar hangout they go to and feel comfortable in. Some people are starbucks junkies. Other than that, where do you feel the most comfortable and/or enjoy the most? Invite them to go there.
