i would have to be in the middle. men who treat women like they will be there forever take it hard. same in high school men get mad and emotional about a chick. but do they see that there are many women in the world? i guess not.

wow player, your concept of attraction and maintaining it has become severley warped because of whatever material you've been digesting since age 14/"when you were young".

I don't think it's a gender thing also....I think it has to do with the circumstances as well as the foundation each individual has, the way each person deals with a 'break up"....
everyone is unique and has something to offer...
As cliche' as they may sound; I believe there is a reason for EVERYTHING!!...sometimes we may lose sight of this on the account that we tend to get caught up in our emotional-worldwind...

I never hear about men committing suicide over women. And I disagree...I think women have it worse when it comes to breakups. Guys seem to shake it off pretty quick and start going out with their buddies and moving on. I think we (women) are extremely emotional and have a harder time healing from heartbreak.

It's different in every situation. I know after my last relationship ended, my ex didn't feel anything. In fact she started trying to date my best friend. I was already torn up about it, and that pushed me down even more.

The reason it hurt so much was due to everything we had been through. Not even a week after we met she was hospitalized. The doctors diagnosed her with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. When that happened I would spend at least 4 hours at the hospital with her every day, and one night I spent about 10 hours there. As much as I was there for her...it really didn't mean anything to her. I guess that was what hurt the most.

I would guess it all depends on what your circumstances are for your break up?

who knows.....everyone is different and every situation is as well. there are emotional men and women. and just cuz ppl act as if they arent upset doesnt mean they arent deep down...

I honestly don't even know why we broke up She called me, and she told me that it was over. It hit me at the worst possible time. A family member had just passed away not even a week before that and I was stressed about my college finals.

Dude, you are 20, let it go if she can not be there for you. Of course if it's a long distance relative (no disprect) but she might not know how close you were with them?

After a year of dating my ex called me up on the phone, gave me the "our personalities are too different" speech.

It was a little awkward at first cause of the breaking up issue, but I got back to normal rather fast. Its as simple as thinking, why am I gonna feel bad over someone who cant tell me the truth and obviously doesn't care about me?

If you worry about things you cant control, you will waste your life away. Cut your losses and move on.

I think when the women say "women have it worse" is because they are thinking of the classical breakup where the jerk dumps the lady as if nothing and carries one whilst the woman is torn.

Fact is guys DO kill themselves over these things WAY more often than women.

TRUE, woman are way more emotional.

Jamie82 is right, not everyone reacts the same way and it depends on the circumstances but in general I've come to believe that on average guys suffer more because society/western culture teaches women

girl power
independance
etc

so when it comes toa dumpage, ya the woman is torn up bad no doubt about it, but men arent taught the same values so when its THEM that get dumped (esp if its a sad case of NICE-GUY ie: overtly, heavily, over-board, attraction killing, nice) They are shredded to pieces.

Because guys are taught

dont be a wuss
get a girl

but when they look to what they should be when it comes to women the advice is nice guy (which is taken overboard)and they think they are doing it all right, the woman dumps them for someone else (most common reaction I've seen and heard).

So yea I reckon dudes get burned worse purely because of the cultural trash they are being drowned with.
