Any advice on bars that are friendly etc and a good place to stay?

I went back in November but only on the train from Germany, didn't get to see much of the place only Goffertpark.

No idea ... maybe you can find out online on other sites? I think most places will be nice in city centre though ... it's a student city, which usually means a lot of pubs and fun. As far as I know, ppl in Nijmegen tend to be friendly, so I wouldn't worry about that.
As for hotel/motel or B&B, just find something near the area you want to go most. If that's too expensive, the one closest to public transport to wherever you wanna go.
THere's a famous pancake restaurant near Nijmegen, in Berg & Dal I think. You will need transport to get there, it's quite a drive through the hills. But that restaurant is really good! Most English seem to like bacon pancake (Spek pannekoek in Dutch) with treacle on it. Try it! It is good.

I forgot i had posted this!

I am going to the bevrijdingsmuseum if it is open and going to visit the Cemetery at Oosterbeek, and pay my tributes to the fallen heroes of "operation market garden", and go visit the "Bridge too far" at Arnhem.

Then hopefully plenty of Oranjeboom in Nijmegen and the derby game between NEC and VITESSE. drinks

Had a good weekend, helped by the fact that NEC beat Vitesse, so my Rood en Green friends were happy.

Spending a few days there, made me want to go back to live, and the countryside around Gelderland is beautiful, especially on warm sunny days.

Aahaaaahhhhhhhh glasses

Great to hear you had a good time!
And yeah, the Nijmegen area is beautiful!
Many places in the east that are wonderful. The hilly parts next to the Utrecht area (Veluwe) as well.

I think i just love different countries, i suppose you get tired of your own country and pine for somewhere different?

I've decided to give up some things and to do more travelling next year.

Might call in on Utrecht :)

I like traveling too. I love England and would love to go to Scotland!
Having travelled quite a lot, I've learnt to appreciate my own country a bit more.
What I don't like about the area I live in, is that it's so remote. It's beautiful, sea, beaches, nature and wildlife, but when looking for a job or a date / nice man, shopping etc. it's always far away from everything and everyone.

You're on one of the islands on the coast aren't you? i remember you saying?
Yeah i guess that's true, i do appreciate where i live is a beautiful part of the world too, but when you travel, you forget that?

Let me know if you're ever around my way, i'll take you for a tour around?

Ah, you're from Yorkshire. I liked Yorkshire :)
Thanks for your offer, really sweet!
I'm in the province in the southwest, which is peninsulas and small islands. Most of the little islands are now connected to the peninsulas. The part that I live on is connected to the peninsula underneath by a 6 km bridge that spans the Oosterschelde.
A bit further on is the Neeltje Jans, part of the Delta works to protect our country from floods. The Neeltje Jans also spans the Oosterschelde, but is longer than the other bridge as it's over the (wider) mouth of the Oosterschelde. It's got huge sluices, as they were not allowed to close of the Oosterschelde. It has a unique flora and fauna. But during storms, they do close them. Happens some 7 times a year on average.
