Fondue is always a great choice that way she can pick her favorite and prepare it like she wants to.Try a extra pot with cheddar cheese soup and french onion dip,cut up a loaf of french bread for dipping, she will love it.

looks cheesy laugh
Love the idea but whats for main course my friend? what

If you have a hot pot of oil (use a low temp one that is less likely to smoke) you can cook steak or shrimp or even octopus but keep all of the raw meat on frozen ice zip locks and use plenty of finger towelettes. Meats can be cooked before or after dipping it in separate bowels of seasoned pancake batters but you never want to fill your pot over half because if their is any boil up or spatter you could have some serious burns or a fire. ALWAYS have a all purpose fire extinguisher handy and practice this meal before you do it with and audience.

If you are not a cook I would warn you away from trying the sushi because if you mess up and mishandle it there is little that will make someone hate you FOREVER like giving them food poisoning.

I have a bottle of Sloan red wine in fridge.

fyi... red wine should be at room temperature... do not serve chilled - that is for white wine..

oh I read that red or white, wine needs to be kept away from light and in a cooler place that way keeping in fridge (not freezer) increases the life of the wine. Well thanks for the tip, i ll keep it out just hours before serving drinker

That is why we missed you joe
She likes wine and meat but I am not sure which meat so having only chicken is bit....awww confusing
So I am thinking more in platter way having lamp, chicken, steak. Also she is from LA so including fish would also be a good choice. What do you think?

Well when I go to a restaurant and there's a million things on the menu straight away I'm thinking this will be rubbish.

When I see a menu with just a few items I think, this could be good, everything on this menu should get cooked properly and be nice.

Just something I find.

Cheese on toast....
Made with love....happy
Rather than go overboard with extravagance....
If she can accept the simple, mundane things in life....
You might be on a winner....drinker

Keeping it simple right mikey flowerforyou
But I think this would be best next morning. You know when she wakes up and I bring toast with juice and flower on bed. Romantic but simple blushing

taking the wine out of the fridge a few hours before the meal is a good idea, actually that is how it should be done really.

red wine shoudn't be served cold. the reason is; it is consumed mostly with red meat. and the grease of the red meat in mouth, will get frozen by the coldness of the wine and that won't be leaving a good taste in the mouth.

the white wine is consumed mainly with fish dishes, so there won't be a grease freezing problem and can be served cold.

(i am not sure whether that "freeze" word was the right one grease becoming solid in mouth, but anyway i am sure you understand that :) )

buuuutttt; i drink my red wine cold as i do not have it with my meal

FYI Using grapeseed oil is really great for cooking fondue meats because it doesn't smoke/burn as easily.

That sounds good but don't make it a buffet, you know. Different wines pair with different meats...you can look that up online when you decide. Don't forget some nice bread. Keep it simple and do it right.

Good luck, sounds like you really care for her.

You never know, she may be the one!
