rant time,, need to get something off my chest. i work hard every day and i deal with alot. i had to pull a double shift today and am still in it, halfway through it now,, i think, and i had to work with a woman that normally works during the day. im the night shift. i was nice to say i would work a double. this girl, came in so high didnt know who she was. she spent the whole time during our busiest time smoking, on the internet, and eating, causeing me to get yelled at by alot of people,, please tell me im not the only one? i wanted to strangle her several times. since im the senior operator, i sent her ass home. but,,, yeah always a but, i cant fire her, cause we are so short of help. what would yall do,, specially since its a woman?

use the coaching/write up process. As being in retail of a large company Ive delt with it through that process. 3 x's ur ass is outta there!

i cant get her fired till we have help,, and im not in retail, but i have enough on her to get her arrested let alone fired

it has nothing to do with her being a woman.. a sorry a$$ employee.. is a sorry a$$ employee. I am sure she should be losing her job for coming to work high.

Sometimes it's not a matter of whether or not you can afford to fire a person, but whether you can afford not to. An employee who is high puts your business in danger...and your reputation. Good luck to you bro, but being short of help is not the worst thing that can happen. I mean, how much help is she being right now?

i already pull at least 45 a week,, and tonight im on a 16 hour shift,, will wind up with over 60,, and since we never,, i mean NEVER close,, i need all the help i can get

Thumper -- I deal with people who come to work drunk/hung over all the time; one time I caught a guy smoking dope in my shop and you bet your ass I sent him home (he was also the bosses son). I don't tolerate idiots or people who are careless and not responsible. It's one thing to cover for someone, but when your in charge and have a deadline you gotta think of the whole picture and how it affects others. Let it go sweetheart and don't let it ruin your night. Tomorrow sit her butt down and explain to her the position she put you in and see what her reaction is -- she'll either say sorry or give you an attitude. Do the best you can babe.

Where I work at if you walk in high or drunk your send home and fired, no doubt about it.

Sorry that is a big enough reason to let any one person go right there.

If your short people then your short people, I guess you have some people pull over time until you get more new people in, is what most companys do.

I am in management also,if you are paying them to be there and work,they need to work,if not they need to go home,that is what I do,send'em to the house.

i work on a dock that handles up to and over 100,000 and more. i surely wouldnt one coming in high. .... i know it sucks being in mangement i used to be one.

i sent her ass home at 7,, and have handled the rest myself,, but i cant take this for too long, i dont sleep as it is,, they will make me go a lil nuts if it keeps up
