If you are going to meet in person it's possible I personally know people that are happily married that met off a dating site

I don't think you can fall in love with someone you have never met. I do think it can be a starting point. I also know a couple people who met their spouses on a dating site.

I think we all want to be loved for who we are. And hopefully we all can find someone to love us in that way.
As for "internet love"... the internet is just a tool to help us connect to people we may not normally meet in out in the world. And hopefully, an emotional and real connection can be made that leads to love. And I think that can and does happen - but it can be difficult. Unfortunately, the internet can also be a hindrance to love. It's SO easy to sit back eliminate the potential love of our life because we read a stat that they are taller or shorter, older or younger, heavier or skinnier, or whatever as compared to the "ideal match" we have concocted in our heads. If we saw someone out in the world and see how they interact with others, we get more of a sense of who they are and we may be attracted to and eventually fall in love with someone who might fit all the parameters of that "idealized match" we have in our heads. So we need to remember the internet is just an introduction tool and that real connections have to happen in the real world. |

Do you believe in INTERNET LOVE? I believe in meeting someone on the internet can lead to more once you meet each other in person, if you both continue to find each other attractive. A Skype video call before arranging to meet is a wise precaution and discovers the scammers, and always first meet up in a public place. Welcome to Mingle2 and good luck in your search. |

Do you believe in INTERNET LOVE? This internet thing has been yet another tremendously illuminating experience, ESPECIALLY when it comes to falling in love. I fell in love through the ethernet too. And I learned about me from it, and I learned about falling in love from it, and I expanded my understanding of the world and it's creatures from it. Here's the main thing: I have now experienced falling in love in person, falling in love with a movie character, falling in love with a famous person, and falling in love with a profile/set of forum entries and phone calls over the many wires and wireless electronics we have today. IT'S ALL THE SAME. Anyone who tells you that falling in love in person and falling in love from a distance or through a wire is different, hasn't been truly observant. Just as many people, if not more, fall in love "in error" in person, as do so remotely. This is because it is in the nature of falling in love itself. What falling in love IS, is where what is in YOU, your desires, dreams, hungers and so on, all seem to find resonance with another person. You become excited enough, that your observations are obstructed by your own inner visions. When by luck, or chance, it's ACTUALLY true that the other person involved really is what you hope, you'll believe in the magic of the force of love, and the great promise of falling into it. When it fails, and it turns out you were smoking your own pipe too much, so to speak, you will put it all off onto delusions of youth, or even pretend you were mislead by the other person, or by Love itself. But really, there's absolutely no difference. So yes, you CAN find and really fall in love, and have things work out over the 'net. Just realize that there's no magic involved, one way OR the other. When others tell you that internet love can bite you and tear you up, they are right. But then, when another person tells you they found True Love through these electrons, they are giving you Truth as well. |

Do you believe in INTERNET LOVE?
No. She cheats on me with all the porn sites. Now we're in a love/hate FWB relationship. I loved the internet, then found so many reasons to hate it. But, it's practical, I'm weak, and she's willing, so we have a relationship of convenience. I wish I knew how to quit you! |

he internet can be a great way to get a thumbnail orientation about a person and see if it is realistic to have a real world meeting in a safe and secure location. But fall in love ? Nope. Like; sure. But liking someone is a great first step in a world that is often so fast paced to be able to even be little more than polite is sometimes a challenge.
Ministers repeatedly report that couples who are coming to them for premarital counseling preparations are saying they met and got to know each other on line. I am sure there are other less desirable outcomes but you do have the choice to set your own standards. |
