Why do people start wars because of religion?

Are the wars truly over religion or greed?

Because they take them way to seriously. If you look deep enough it's not always about the religion......religion justprovides a convenient excuse.

I agree with others, religions are often used as a front to hide the real reasons.
Although, there are clear examples where religous differences are the central issue too. However, whether the basis for it is religion or greed it ultimately comes down to a power issue of someone wanting to control someone else. So the bottom line is a need to control the behavior of others, or take what is rightfully theirs. Unfortunately. |

I think Rousseau said something about the difficulty of living in peace with people one thinks is going to hell. I'll go with that one.

I believe Voil has that one pegged, from very recent thread:
"Obsessive-Compulsive-Delusional 'OPPRESSION BY RELIGIOUS DOGMA' Syndrome". |

Yeah, why is a good question. I like Jet Li's quote from, "The One" when transporting through the omniverse. "Why are you giving me such a tough time? I am only killing myself on those other 139 universes and each time I do it makes me stronger."

Religions are by creation designed to divide. By teaching their religion is the one and only true divine belief and all others are dam*d they set it up for the war at least of minds if not bodies. If you look back in history most religions have had some bloody conversion attempts. It is actually a sad thing. Religion must be kept at home and only at home, no governments must use it or they will be like Iraq and the other middle eastern countries.
