I would get a carry around camera and ask a docent in a museum, event, or even a waitress in a patio cafe to take a smiling picture some of your favorite haunts. natural lighting should make your glasses glare go away. You mention being a stellar cook go tot he farmer's market and ask a vendor to show you with their stuff. They will be glad for the free advertisement and it is just a great date suggestion. Shows you actually doing something.

I am in the minority of women who like facial hair you might consider shaving since statistically it does up your date search just like it does job search.

I will do that but as far as the beard goes, I will trim it but not shave it, seems I scare people when I do, lol!
