at the first coversation , a lot of people forget to say hello and change it to WHERE ARE YOU FROM ? so i m from Mars

I think people are too lazy to read profiles & reverse image pics.
And that people want to date people from their own state, that they have things in common with.. Ya know, like a date site. laugh

Kenitra - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenitra/

And your profile says Morocco & your pic is very 'Viking' looking . So yea.. raise some eyebrows... " Have Vikings conquered the Middle East & we missed the news footage!? " laugh

oh u never know how moroccan people look like , u missed that . and have u ever heard about Amazigh people or u talk just for talk

Good observation. Awesome remark. That's what they say- sees the log in the one's eye and goes not notice a straw in his own.

I gave you 3 reasons, why people would say ' where are you from?' I told you the truth. And tried to make a joke. *different humor I guess*

90% of my mail the 1st or 2nd question is " why are you here ?".. I could make a thread insisting that is a (perverse) form of sexism.. but I won't. I will just keep telling myself most people don't read profiles.

Instead of men are asking me &
and are hoping to hear " I'm here to talk dirty to you across the Atlantic for free baby "... Hhhaa. laugh

So blame or tell yourself what you want. We have at least one, " I am not getting my way, so it's racist " thread here a week.

See you then. waving

Could be a cultural thing or thinking there isn't much in common. How much would you have in common with a redneck gal from Texas that cheers for the Cowboys and Longhorns and watches NASCAR while drinking a cold beer? Do you listen to country music? Can you two step?

it s bad thing to judge people before u know them , that s the problem ; one thing in common is humanity , so humanity is enough

Humm but yet it is okay for you to judge why they asked where you live??

so to reply to the word hello need to know where i m from , oh don't misunderstood me , it s simple , say hello and then say where are u from ? i talk about people who ask the first about location ,

Honestly those that send me a e-mail with just a Hello and nothing more I don't even waste my time to respond to them..jmo

But if I see something in their profile that just does not jive. I do in fact ask if they are living where they say they do now or not... If they by pass my question then the conversation is over.. Has nothing to do with Racism at all~~noway

And if they don't live locally then it is a waste of their time and mine.... Unless I talk to them in the forums and we are just chit chatting in e-mail as friends... But forums first for that to happen.

You should listen to us Americans. We know more about racism than most countries.

Seriously though, I talk to people I like wherever they are from and whatever race, ethnicity, religion, or species they might be. However, I don't like many people or species. bigsmile

I understand you, I just disagree with you. This is a date site, not a chat room, not F@c@book where you can ask or beg the planet with friend requests.
Saying ' Hello' to someone in real life doesn't guarantee a conversation & it certainly won't get a guy, any guy, too far here. 'Hello & hi ", doesn't tell a woman anything or interest her.
And believe me there are hundreds of men before you saying 'hi'.

Here's an idea, how about instead of accusing the planet or the people here of being racist . CHANGE your technique. And say where you are from in your introduction along with your name & pick a topic to discuss..... Other than your persecution complex. .
Because your really digging your own grave here if you insist on telling people something is wrong with them, like calling them racist, because they are not willing to talk to you or date you.
If you find the phrase 'where are you from?" offensive..... Stick around your in for a Culture Shock.

* I tried ..... frustrated *

Ok let's try this....your profile says you are white. I am white. It doesn't mean I would be interested in getting to know you, outside of the forums, though. How would that be racist?

i m not talking about you people and i talk about people who i inbox them and they ask just the location

abdeslam22, there is no racism involved in someone asking you for your location.

The reality is that women, in general, do not want to date men who live too far away from them.

The question "Where are you from?" is a quick way for a woman to determine if a man lives within an acceptable distance. If he does not, then the woman will not make an emotional investment into developing a relationship with him.

In short, the title of this discussion thread is a false claim.

it seems like racism...at the first coversation , a lot of people forget to say hello and change it to WHERE ARE YOU FROM

If that seems like racism, then I do not believe you understand the meaning of the word.

At best you can personally consider it rude.

Rudeness and racism are very different things.

Other than that, just for arguments sake, let's say it is racist.
It's the deepest most evil form of racism that ever existed or will ever exist...So what?

Are they a government entity? Are you trying to perform business? Are they actively keeping you from dating someone else? Are they keeping you from living in a certain neighborhood? Are they hunting you down to stick you in some kind of labor camp? Are they invading your city to put an end to the racial impurity causing a blight on the world?

With online dating it doesn't really matter if they're racist or not.

Here, that is no different than being republican, democrat, mormon, handicapped, gay, straight, a smoker, a couch potato, unemployed, making 6 million a year, PhD, or not having a car.

So, for arguments sake, let's say you saw through the curtain and you've spotted the where's waldo racists.

What now?

You feel better about yourself?

Do you think that magically makes you more attractive to anyone at all?
Or that "racists" are no longer going to be racists?

Like they'll read this forum thread and say to themselves "M'kay, I was wrong, I'm going to email that guy and be more cordial and follow his idea of formal interaction, I'mma gonna change my ways completely!"

Or do you believe other people all over the world are going to read this and think "gee, I'm a racist. I better start saying hi to people in response so I can stop being a racist."

The only way people change is through interpersonal relationships.
Online, it's as impersonal as it gets.
And when you complain about how other people behave, what you do is validate them ignoring you completely.

It would be much more interesting to figure out exactly what you get from this.

I'll never know the truth though.
Too much self editing.
You can say whatever you want with no fear of it ever being proven.
But if you don't respond how I believe you should, then it's okay if I just consider you a racist?
