Dating 8 years but man makes excuses about getting married?

Truth is he does not want to get married..
Many do not feel that getting married is needed to be with someone.. |

Dating 8 years but man makes excuses about getting married? hmm. marriage is good, but not for everyone. Do you have or want children? and he doesn't? Is your biological clock ticking? Having that (marriage) license has many benefits, especially in older age when death and pensions come into play. You should sit and have a conversation about each of your goals, where you're going and where you want to be.. If you have no commonality, move on. Good Luck |

Do you need it? Eight years without one, do you really feel it is necessary at this point? The ring is the least important part of a relationship, it's how you care about each other that is important.
I've got a buddy that's been with the same woman for 24 years with no rings involved, but they love each other and are a great fit as a couple, so really, unless you want the tax benefits, the license and ring are of no consequence. |

I've been with my girlfriend 8 years, I haven't proposed and currently have no plans to do so. Honestly im not sure if I ever will.
Many guys as someone stated just don't think it is necessary. Thankfully I was up front with my girlfriend in the beginning and told her I have no intentions to ever being married. I see other guys do the same and the girlfriend says that's fine. But later SHE decides she wants to be married because "it's been long enough" but HE still doesn't want to, and now she wonders what is wrong with him...truth is nothing HE isn't the one who changed his mind. SHE was, amd now she is mad that he didn't change with her. there is no certain amount of time to date that makes someone "ready for marriage," both people must come to that realization on their own. If you've been wanting to get married for let's say the last 6 years why did you stay? if you were ok with not being for the last 6 years what has changed? I also wanted to add that I did tell me girlfriend if she ever started nagging me about marriage that would be the end if iur relationship, harsh but true. I did this for 2 reasons. 1. she knows I'm serious about my plans about never being married and wouldn't want it to become a constant argument. and 2. that would mean that now I knew she wouldn't be happy without it, and I don't want her to be unhappy so i would walk so someone else could fulfill that desire if hers. |

My daughter dated her husband now for 5 years before they got married.. It was not due to he did not love her he was scared to make that commitment. They have been married 3 years now..
Heck I finally told the boy I wanted a ring on her finger.. their first child was a year old when they got married.. Everyone has different reason why they don't.. But without communication you will never know.... |

INMHO In the real world a partner that does not want to commit to you after a year and be married with all the privileges, protections, and responsibilities that go with that in another year is just selfish and riding a good horse to death. Probably because you have given them the majority of all the privileges for nothing.
Living together, even parenting together, is not even remotely the same thing as married and being one as what marriage means. If someone does not have the deep, abiding, burning desire to be partnered with you formally and officially in the eyes of all, but most importantly yours, your family, and including the government they have some kind of problem that would make me wonder why I was giving them my present; and letting my future slip away one day at a time. At what point is being and option until a better choice comes along become intolerable? Is it easy to walk away from a Less than relationship? No but what would be harder than selling yourself out for X number of years; except one more day? What I really have to question is why any parent would teach their child that version of "love"? I have your child, you give me a child (hopefully a conscious choice that a providing man makes) then get your adult britches on and do what should be done. Your kid should not have to wear your cowardice. You think kids don't have to then you don't live in the real world. |

Dating 8 years but man makes excuses about getting married?
What kind of excuses? Like "you keep joining dating sites!" Or "you/I have a ton of debt, if we get married it's going to ruin my/your credit." Or "my wife won't let me." Or "I don't believe in the legal institution of marriage." Or "I've been married 3 times. I'm not getting married again." Or "I've got fantasy football on that day." Or "I just finished school, I just started a new business, until I start making money I just can't afford the wedding you want since you have a family of 2000 cousins and want a big wedding." Or "who are you again? We're dating?" Or "I told you from the beginning, we're just FWB, that's all we'll ever be. I don't know why you never listen. I don't want more." Or "my picture is in the post office. If we have a wedding there will be a wedding announcement in the paper. And then America's Most Wanted will find me." Or "I spend 8 months a year on an oil rig and barely talk to you. When I'm off I only see you one, two times a month. So in realistic dating terms we've only been dating for like 1 year." Or "I'm in the middle of transitioning to a male/female. Once I'm done we can do it." Or "my ex wife ran off 5 years ago and I can't find her, we're still legally married and I have to wait another couple of years before I can get it annulled or divorced without her signing the papers." Or "nothing. I'm in a persistent vegetative state and you only communicate with me through a psychic." Or "as soon as I'm out of prison." I would be interested in learning the real excuses...although after all those they'll probably be a letdown. |

If she loved him, she'd schedule it for a Tuesday. There's no football on Tuesday. |

There is a German saying,"Geduld Bringt Rosen,Aber Zuerst Kommen Die Knospen"!(Patience brings Roses, but first come the Buds)
But 8years is somewhat ridiculous! |
