Russian Missiles Aimed At Syria Reportedly Hit Iran
The reports could embarrass the Russian government.

Russian cruise missiles aimed at Syria reportedly landed in Iran on Thursday.

The mistaken bombing, launched from a Russian warship in the Caspian Sea, was first reported by CNN, which received the information from two unnamed U.S. officials.

From the Caspian Sea, the clearest path for the missiles to reach Syria would be by crossing over both Iran and Iraq. The officials told CNN that Russia is testing out its Kaliber missiles in combat for the first time.

The report is consistent with Iranian media accounts of an explosion in northwestern Iran. The Islamic Republic Press Agency, an official Iranian government press outlet, reported on Thursday that the governor of Takab said an "unidentified flying object" near the town crashed and then exploded. The article contained a photo of a drone, however, and did not provide details about the origins of the crash and explosion.

Iranian journalists have subsequently tweeted these government reports as evidence that that is where the bombing occurred.

It is not clear if there were any Iranian casualties from the bombing.

The U.S. believes, based on intelligence reports of damage assessments, that some buildings were damaged and civilians may have been hurt.

It's unclear where in Iran the missiles landed. The Russian ships have been positioned in the south Caspian Sea, meaning the likely flight path for missiles into Syria would cross over both Iran and Iraq.

The Russians have been firing a relatively new cruise missile called "Kaliber," using it for the first time in combat.

"Oooopski comrade, didn't mean to bomb country yours."

"You know, I left missile room for like 3 minutes to go take leak. I said to Sergey, Sergey do not to f**k with button on missile panel. So, I am shaking off python of love, and I hear like 7 whooshes of missile. I run down the hall to missile room and there is Sergey with finger on button. I say Sergey! What you do?"

Yeah. Maybe someone forgot to program the flight data into some of these missiles and they went stupid.

Gotta imagine some Iranian sheep herder with the flock when all of a sudden 1,000 pound warhead just turns half his flock into highly mobile red sweaters and some stew.

'If', the missile strike on Iran were an accident, it's a Charlie Foxtrot situation worthy of reward.

I'd be tempted, to give a case of Chivas Regal 12 year old scotch, to the ruskie who pushed the launch button.

F Russia.
But, F Iran even more.

Putin's Missiles Take Out Terrorist Iranian Cows

A new and disturbing danger has apparently arisen in the Middle East, and the Russian military is on it. It appears that cows have begun aligning themselves with terrorist organizations, and Russian President Vladimir Putin's forces are taking the steps necessary to shut down this bovine threat before things get any worse.

How else to translate the events of the past several days?

Shortly after Russian warships in the Caspian Sea launched a reported 26 cruise missiles toward Syria on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu appeared on television to celebrate the success of the attack.

Shoigu announced that all 26 of the missiles struck within three meters of their intended targets, and he claimed that no civilian buildings were damaged.

In televised comments, Putin added,The fact that we have launched precision-guided weapons from the Caspian at a range of around 1,500 km and hit all the targets indicates the good status of defense industry and the good skills of the personnel.

However, reports began to trickle out on Thursday that perhaps not all of the Russian missiles had actually made it into Syria. A report from the town of Takab, which is directly under the flight path of the Russian missiles as revealed by maps released by the Kremlin, detailed how a massive explosion at around 6 a.m. rocked the rural area on Wednesday.

The 'unidentified flying object' exploded several hundred meters outside Takab, close enough to shake buildings and frighten residents.

It also killed several head of cattle, according to the report.shocked spock slapheadlaugh

At least our missiles land in the right country! If this would have been one of ours all hell would be breaking loose, but since it's Russia's Iran is down playing it. Go figure.

Plus I read this missile system has a lot of flaws and isn't a proven system. It shouldn't be in the field. Hell, we waited until this year to deploy the F-35's, making sure all the glitches were fixed.

You got to be F'kin kidding me.... An American pointing out another countries possible friendly fire!! hahaha.

As a Brit, I can assure you that there are a number of our troops suffering, if not dead, from American friendly fire. I would imagine not every case got reported in the press either, so it was/is a bigger problem than we are aware of.

Have you guys been aware of the Russian success on bombing raids? No? I wonder why...

It seems 2 senior isis and 300 isis 'troops' have been killed recently in Russian bombing raids.

There are a few other links I could add, but dont want to lay it on too thick as you might 'zone out' if having to read too much. ;)

It's all about destruction of enemy morale.

A shortage of large, cud chewing farm animals, will no doubt lead to longer and lonelier weekends for many Iranian guys.

Of course, it could have been done out of jealous Russian rage, when Ivan's heifer sweetheart, ran off with Ahmed the goat herder.
