Hey 1onlyaname, off topic but, wasnt there a Russian chess player named Gary something or another?

Kasparov.

There was also Karpov.

Those men have such brilliant minds, you can watch some games on youtube if that floats your boat. The American, Fischer, is on there too.

Putin's Missiles Take Out Terrorist Iranian Cows

A new and disturbing danger has apparently arisen in the Middle East, and the Russian military is on it. It appears that cows have begun aligning themselves with terrorist organizations, and Russian President Vladimir Putin's forces are taking the steps necessary to shut down this bovine threat before things get any worse.

How else to translate the events of the past several days?

Shortly after Russian warships in the Caspian Sea launched a reported 26 cruise missiles toward Syria on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu appeared on television to celebrate the success of the attack.

Shoigu announced that all 26 of the missiles struck within three meters of their intended targets, and he claimed that no civilian buildings were damaged.

In televised comments, Putin added,The fact that we have launched precision-guided weapons from the Caspian at a range of around 1,500 km and hit all the targets indicates the good status of defense industry and the good skills of the personnel.

However, reports began to trickle out on Thursday that perhaps not all of the Russian missiles had actually made it into Syria. A report from the town of Takab, which is directly under the flight path of the Russian missiles as revealed by maps released by the Kremlin, detailed how a massive explosion at around 6 a.m. rocked the rural area on Wednesday.

The 'unidentified flying object' exploded several hundred meters outside Takab, close enough to shake buildings and frighten residents.

It also killed several head of cattle, according to the report.shocked spock slapheadlaugh

It's all about destruction of enemy morale.

A shortage of large, cud chewing farm animals, will no doubt lead to longer and lonelier weekends for many Iranian guys.

Of course, it could have been done out of jealous Russian rage, when Ivan's heifer sweetheart, ran off with Ahmed the goat herder.

The topic of the discussion, is Russian missiles striking Iran.

The topic isn't Americans chuckling at someone else's "friendly fire" incident.

The topic isn't chess.

The topic isn't Russian chess players.

2 missles may or may not have malfuctioned who cares ? They were not aimed at a hospital. I love Putin is destrying ISIS

No they were not aimed at hospitals but take a trip to Holland and ask the bereaved family's from flight MH17 what they think of Russian missiles. Remember the Malaysian airline shot down a while back.
We all have a cross to bear.

Im hardly going to notice if you see me as simple minded.

I refer you to my previous post offering another view of Putins actions, namely the report of Senior Isis and isis footsoldiers being hit. I posted it so readers may get some balance from this thread.

Someone else moved the topic to chess, but as you mention it, I will suggest that chess is like life and I have heard Putin plays it well. Lets see who has the stronger attack. America have claimed to try against ISis, now its Russia's turn. My guess is that soon we will see the difference between a half hearted attack and a decisive one.

You got to be F'kin kidding me.... An American pointing out another countries possible friendly fire!! hahaha.

As a Brit, I can assure you that there are a number of our troops suffering, if not dead, from American friendly fire. I would imagine not every case got reported in the press either, so it was/is a bigger problem than we are aware of.

Have you guys been aware of the Russian success on bombing raids? No? I wonder why...

It seems 2 senior isis and 300 isis 'troops' have been killed recently in Russian bombing raids.

There are a few other links I could add, but dont want to lay it on too thick as you might 'zone out' if having to read too much. ;)

Russia just handed ISIS a 'big win' in Syria's largest city

So far, Russia's campaign against rebels in Syria has hit anti-regime fighters about 90% of the time while leaving ISIS strongholds untouched. And up until now, rebel groups have been successful keeping ISIS out of Aleppo.

There are many factions fighting for control of Syria ISIS sometimes fights forces loyal Assad and seeks to gain as much territory as it can in Syria, but the group mostly fights nationalist rebels as well as other jihadist groups like the Nusra Front, al-Qaeda's affiliate in the country.

Russia went into Syria claiming that its primary target was ISIS, but it seems that its real goal is to prop up Assad, who is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

And as Russian airstrikes weaken the nationalist opposition and ISIS' jihadist rivals, ISIS is taking advantage of opportunities to move into territory it wasn't previously able to secure.

Gains in Aleppo "would basically give them the ability to attack the rebels from different sides and take areas under the control of the rebels," Hassan said.

"They will try this because they see the rebels at their weakest points and they want to fortify the front from different sides," he said.

Furthermore, Russia has something to gain from leaving ISIS largely untouched.

"The Russians are following the same script as the Syrian regime, which is basically to avoid ISIS as much as they can because ISIS is useful," Hassan said.

"ISIS can attack the rebels. It's not in the heartlands, it's in areas that are farther away. ... If ISIS attacks the rebels in Aleppo, that's good news for the Russians and the regime."

Consequently, Russia would hit ISIS harder only if the group creeps into regime strongholds.

"The regime and Russians will focus on the heartlands Hama, Damascus, but not Palmyra," which is an ISIS stronghold, Hassan said.

ISIS also reportedly killed a top Iranian commander in northern Aleppo this week, despite Russian airstrikes. Iran is allied with Russia and Syria while commanding proxies in the country.

yep, sure 'The Mother Of All Attacks'!

I guess this video is just false info and we will soon see many more russian missiles hitting Iran, failed russian missions, constant civilian casualties, anything that proves American superiority over the russians.

Its hard to witness, but I dont really care how entrenched some of you are in your belief systems, I am happy to see Russia do well against Isis and CIA backed rebels.

'If', the missile strike on Iran were an accident, it's a Charlie Foxtrot situation worthy of reward.

I'd be tempted, to give a case of Chivas Regal 12 year old scotch, to the ruskie who pushed the launch button.

F Russia.
But, F Iran even more.
