No matter what they tell us No matter what they do No matter what they teach us What we believe is true No matter what they call us However they attack No matter where they take us We'll find our own way back My Question is... Does it matter to you what others think of you? Or you just shrug it off your shoulders? DISCUSS |

If I cared what others think of me, I wouldn't be on the interwebz.

Matter? Not really.
If it is a friend with good advice I might take it (then again I might not). If it is unsolicited I pay not a whit of attention. I kinda like me the way I am. |

Does it matter to you what others think of you?
To some degree and it depends on the person. The thoughts of others give valuable feedback. The better they know you, the better their thoughts reflect your reality. You can't know right from wrong until you know how your actions affect others. You can't know how your actions affect others unless you know what they are thinking. You can't truly know if what they're thinking is what they are telling you unless you spend a significant enough time around them, i.e. have a significant relationship with them. Or you just shrug it off your shoulders?
I shrug it off it it doesn't really offer anything of practical value. |

DISCUSS yes it matters, in terms of character, amongst those with good character doesn't matter so much what those of little or poor character think but it matters to me how I touch others lives which undoubtedly then affects what they think of me and it matters to me how I 'represent' my faith, and my family when I am in public an honest and kind reputation is important to me,,,, |

i took this from my PHOBIAS & FEARS thread
Allodoxaphobia The fear of opinions. Being afraid of hearing what others are thinking of you. Gotta admit, I do have this fear to a certain degree |

If I answer, "no" then why am I here ? I believe the majority of real people here are seeking approval in one form or another. As others have said it depends on who is giving the opinion and also on the importance of the matter under consideration. The most important thing is to remain true to your own values and beliefs. However,my values and beliefs should also be subject to scrutiny. If people disagree with me on trivial matters then it doesn't bother me.Then again we might argue over what is trivial and what is important.

If they are in my close circle of friends then yes. As far as others that I work with or come in contact with I try to be nice and helpful but at the end of the day as long as I can look in the mirror and know I did my best I could careless what they think of me.
