If you were dating in the real world would you give your phone number to someone you did not know and had just met?

because you're actually interacting with a person and having a sense of whether they seem ok, I have given my number to people. but then again, most of the time when I'm meeting new people, it's either through a mutual friend or work venue, so the person iits not like having to weed out undesirable people

Before it got to be where by giving out your phone number someone could research you on the internet and find out more about you than you can remember about yourself I would exchange phone numbers in the real world with people I met fairly casually.

But NOW no way.

Not even unlisted number or cell phone numbers offer you a modicum of privacy.

A looser decides to be a jerk the phone company doesn't put teeth into it like they used to either. I know you can block numbers but still if someone is a jerk they usually have more than one number they can harass you from. Some will take a F-off for a while but then drunk dial with some pitiful apology or tantrum when the next twelve have rejected them.

From what I am being told by a few on the other side of the gender divide it can be a real problem; especially on the job, or with vandalism if any kind of mild exchange goes on and the offender is mistaking it for eternal love.

Giving out your number isn't a big deal..depending on your relationship.. It might be a friend which you really trust or someone which worth more than friendship... But before doing such.. You should know more about the particular person.. and u both should have spent some weeks chatting trying to build up trust in yourselves
