is the exact reason i always drove for a company every time i put the facts on what the cost of owning my own truck on paper it was a paycut so heck with that let the company have those issues but hey that is just me |

It's a little bit tougher now adj with the price of fuel the way it is. And it won't get any better, but if you run your butt off and do at LEAST 3000 miles a week then you can make it. But you have to want more then one truck though. My goal is to someday be bigger then JB Hunt. It may happen, but it may not. All I know is that as long as I try I have not failed

When I was with my husband (left in 91) We were contractors for Bekins V/L we had 2 trucks.
Sure they Grossed $250,ooo a yr. after expences ppfftt! Have you guys seen the news about the wreck on the 5 fwy in Santa Clarita? It was in the tunnel for the truck by pass friday night. they still have the 5 closed. i think the count now is at 20 trucks & some cars. 2men & a lil boy died. the tunnel was on fire still this morning.. |

about 12 years ago just about gave my son my truck 80 plus hours a week om the road after all expenses could not afford a motel when I had a break slept in the truck. average take home was like 7.50 an hour if I remember right. at that time had a wife who was getting wery bad off health wise, signed up for social security and stayed at home to take care of her.
