Every two-bit comedian has padded their act with some kind of riff about the differences between men and women. This...is another one, I guess (though I'm not sure if I'm a two-bit comedian or not).

Movies are a perfect example (now ladies, please remember that these are MY observations based upon MY experience--I am not suggesting that the following are universal laws). Men and women look for very specific things in a movie. Men are generally drawn to movies that are full of 'guy stuff', like guns and explosions and aliens and boobs. Ideally, the main character of a typical guy flick would be a combo platter of those things, though it seems like a tall order to write a character who is an alien with guns and huge, exploding boobs.
Women, on the other hand, are a bit more thoughtful in what they look for in a movie. They tend to like films that have...a lot of talking. Talking and unrealistic love interests. The talking is a mere annoyance--no guy wants to sit there for two hours hearing beautiful-looking people yack on and on about their future or their past or how they yearn for a love that can never be, wasting valuable minutes of exploding-alien-boob time.

First dates are another perfect example of the difference in how males and females operate. What do I mean? Well, allow me to now tell you the only difference between Charles Manson and every first date I went on after I got divorced: Manson would at least be kind enough to LOOK insane the moment you meet him. If you're on a date with Charlie, be prepared for a very early evening--"This guy is a frigging maniac. Why the hell is he buttering the back of his chair? My God, he just looked at the children's menu and ordered a child!" All I'm saying is that a little heads-up would be nice.
