couldn't find the rant forum so put it here instead :)

i suspect some will agree with me, and some will feel i'm being pedantic

but IT'S HAVE,NOT OF!!!!!!!

how hard is that to grasp, they are 2 different words with different meanings FGS!
i know not everyone is totally faultless with spelling and grammar and it doesn't bother me if people make the odd mistake but come on folks, i can understand 10 year old kids writing it probably because in their hand held electronic device generation they probably don't know much different, but grown adults?

44 year old's really should know it's could have/would have/should have not friggin of!
frustrated frustrated

oh and another one...his instead of he's!!!

slaphead

I beg someone's pardon for our lapses in English, grammar & sentence construction:)

We learn English through books, newspapers and sports magazine:)

Mingle Forum is liberating, it gave us the chance and the platform to express what we feel in writing..in words..using the English language.

Please give us time to hone our English language skills..in time we might surprise you..:)

For now, we are trying to keep up and trying to learn at the same time.

If I have chosen wrong or inappropriate words, or misinterpreted certain phrases..feel free to correct me. I really want to learn the correct way, and having fun while doing it..all the best:)

...lol:tongue: bigsmile

it's impolite to spell with one's mouth full.

it's even more impolite to correct them during such events.

Sorry giant, i didn't mean to shrink your head.

But for this, you were almost perfect except for not capitalizing the 'i' (applause applause)

I was just talking to Tilly today about the standard of English in this site, and that for someone coming from where English is a second language, our command of English would and have put many where English is their official language to shame..... hehehehe! bigsmile bigsmile

But sometimes I do botch some of my postings..... and then I can blame my sticky computer keys or my auto spell...... or maybe, the speech to text????

Laughing out loud. I thought this was just a thread about ranting.

About the original post on here:

I don't mind errors in spelling and grammar so much anymore, as the thought content is more important. Of course, the obvious exceptions are official writing assignments. I personally loathe the phone predictive function. In my humble opinion, if you can get your point across properly, that is the key to real communication.

I'm probably a bit too meticulous or obsessive-compulsive about my writing sometimes, which can become time consuming. Some people are like that also, which is not too much of a bad thing -- just being conscientious. Some mistakes can be distracting sometimes.

What i do mind is killing a language deliberately with "jejemon-isms". grumble frustrated

Edited for abbreviations and other mistakes. oops   tongue2

@iamwhoiam, i'm not worked up over it, i've had my rant but it still bugs me lol

@anyone who's first language isn't English, then i am in now way targeting you, i'm talking about people who speak English and write English as their first language but yet can't or are too lazy to write the correct word .

@to anyone else that hasn't got the jist of this thread, i'm not complaining about people's grammar and spelling mistakes, but the use of a completely different word
shades
have a good day people!

Here is where the mistake or confusion pops in.

The contraction for "would have" is would've which sounds like "would of", but "would of" is WRONG. Either write "would've" or "would have". Get it?

Wow tell us how you really feel laugh
I know for a fact my grammar, spelling and punctuation is a nightmare, as well as my vocabulary choices to many. I figure if a person can understand what I am writing then all is good.
