Topic: How Did You Piss Off Your Parents? | |
---|---|
Not talking to them calling them buy their first name Going to university Standing up for myself and family what was wrong with calling them by their first name? Yeah, by my upbringing calling your mom or dad by their first name was a "no." I don't know...it's just weird societal values. very weird to me. My kids would not dare call me by my first name.... Out of pure Respect is the reason.. are you sure it's not pure fear and shear terror |

Actually never pissed off my parents.. now maybe a few times I pissed off both of my step moms but that is a different story lmao..
But my dad or my mom never~~~ We were raised to respect them and do as we were told.. We had fun actually my dad and my granny was not strict with us we did what we were suppose to do,,, Never thought about doing anything that would disappoint them. As far as what I did that made them proud... I would say my Dad and Granny was proud that my brother and I learned to be very independent and could take care of ourselves.. as well as our kids when we had to raise them on our own.. Actually we both ended up getting divorces and had to raise our kids on our own.. |

so what would have happened if you had called your parents by their first name?

I still don't know my parents' first names. The names are sacred and hidden from us, like the name of God.

so what would have happened if you had called your parents by their first name? In reality.. no kidding around. Whomever I called by the first name would have beat the s*** out of me. Then I would have heard it from by grand parents, aunts and uncles. Even some of the neighbors would know And my brothers would have asked me if I had lost your mind as I sat our a 2 week punishment. It would have been a big deal. Of course diffent ethnic groups have different rules and in many of them that is fine.. I'm of Irish decent, and you just don't do that. |

I know this is different, but parents like that sound too strict and sometimes kids act out because of it, I was always good and never got into trouble because my parents were fair and I had no need to go behind their back and be naughty because they were so strict. like I said that's a whole new subject I only said because I think if you cant call your parents by their name that's to strict. |

Hahahah Debbie1980 it is the way we raise our kids in the states. You were taught from day one it was mommy and daddy never by their first names.. So that is all you really knew till you got old enough to understand it.
