I disagree rosie. If a person's thoughts and body are not in agreement then the end result can be lonely.

If you meant you wanted to get up to go to the bathroom and your body would not move and nobody there to help you and you messed up the bed... that would be sad but not lonely.

everyone says that once you hit 50 your going down hill , but I'm a true believer that we in are 50's are just as good or not better than people in their 30's and 40's . and thats a fact jack .

My goodness, it does not have to be that way. I love how old I am. I enjoy the little things, nature, photography is my passion. Find your passion. There are plenty of attractive, funny, men out there. I love when I see older couples holding hands. You are never ever too old for love. Blessings.

Old age, as long as you are healthy and able to get out and about, is what you make it. When I arrived at an age where dating and relationships were not that easy to come by, I adjusted my lifestyle to finding ways to make up for that. I started volunteering more. I started a club for like minded people in my age group. I take exercise classes, etc.
Now, life is as much fun, or more, than ever. I stay active, involved socially, and I still have things I love doing alone. I still have fun on dating sites and occasionally meet men to date, but that is not a priority.

I guess it may depend on where you live, what you are looking for, and whether or not you are just willing to stay lonely, or actively doing something to alleviate that.
