My 11 day old great niece, Lily, has been taken to the hospital. Still unclear what is going on. She is vomitting a lot. If it is what the doctors are thinking, she will need surgery on a stomach muscle

Thank God! She is ok. The radiologist said everything is normal. They have to try breast milk from a bottle now to see if that helps. She wasn't just spitting up. She was projectile vomiting for the last 2 days

Warmest and Deepest thoughts for the good health of your little Lily:heart: flowerforyou

FYI...my daughter projectile vomited like that almost her whole bottle-feeding days. Yes, we had to try the different kinds of milk...with iron, without, with vitamins, without. I never produced milk for breast feeding, so that was out. We got her on a good mix and she gained weight, even though the projectile vomiting still occurred every few days. She is now a very healthy 23 year old. happy

Thank you!

Lily is breast feed but apparently getting too much milk but not gaining weight. I know my niece was scared for her baby. Comforting to know your child vomited and turned out good flowerforyou

Yes, I will say...when peeps asked to hold her, i warned them that she "throws up" or "vomits"...and they would always say "oh, that's ok..that's what babies do". Then when she projectiled all over them, they would be not as sweet then LOLlaugh
It WAS scary....but honestly, after a few trips to the e.r. and the pediatrician....we became complacent about it. Again, since she WAS gaining weight, it was not a problem. It did almost stop when we started her on cereal, and slowly stopped altogether by the time more solids like bananas were introduced.
As far as we know, she has no problems from it.

Thank goodness surgery was not needed. Digestive problems can be very frustrating. I hope your niece finds a good mix and right supplements as Baby Lily grows. flowerforyou

Thank you guys! They are going to try breast milk in a bottle 1st. It could be she is getting too much and can maybe monitor the amount better with a bottle. If not they will try something else

Babies have and uncanny way of tasking what they need and blasting out what they don't. Amazing how far.

We went through it with my son and now he is fine having his own grey hairs imbedded by his kids. We had much better luck with goats milk and now he enjoys the many readily available lactose free alternatives. We did find that wheat was not a food he tolerated either and his son is glutin sensitive so if breast feeding Mom may have to curb her diet but again with all the fantastic alternatives available it is a small sacrifice. Plus for Mommy it does help loose some of the "baby weight".

Keep ya all in prayers.
