Online dating doesn't really provide you with greater matching opportunities so much as greater opportunity to be rejected by those who already rejected you without either of you knowing it via the natural barriers set up by how you live your life.

You live where you live, work where you work, play where and how you play, and those are ultimately your choices.

By doing so, or being so, you are restricting who will be compatible with you.

Just having instant email access to more people doesn't change anything, really.

It simply offers the illusion of greater choice.

Which offers it's own problems through the whole paradox of choice thing.

Welcome to the forums Spirawave :-)....If you're asking for opinions, I think, like any other type of social venue, internet dating can run the gamut from very good to very bad...It is as successful as YOU want to make it...The very nature of internet dating makes it a perfect breeding ground for liars and scammers and THAT is why dating sites are adults only...On the up side, it opens the door to meeting and getting to know a wide range of people from the safety of your own home...Just use your head and don't move too fast...I wish you luck, love and happiness!

DATING is what's bad. For everyone.

Being with someone is pretty damn wonderful, but getting through the work TO be with someone is a pain in the [extremity you most enjoy attaching complaints to].

It's not always bad for single people.Many have bad experiences at the start,but it comes down to how you handle it and how much of yourself you give away too soon.
I have been on here for a while now,but not as long as some. The nice thing being that with this forum,friendships develop,and sometimes more.
For different reasons,some of us can't,or don't want to go to bars looking for a potential partner,so internet dating is a good place to start looking.
And without single people,we wouldn't have internet dating.So here you are,and here we are,talking about the pros and cons of a dating site,on a dating site

Well, I'm pretty fed up with it myself just now and it hasn't led to a lasting relationship but I can't agree that it's always bad.

In theory I could meet somebody from here today and it could lead to some sort of relationship, or just be better than spending the day on my own. I don't expect that to happen today but it has before when I haven't expected anything.

Maybe you just have too many expectations. I no longer have any and that way you can't be disappointed with what you get from it.

Always is a strong word to describe it. Just don't put your hopes high enjoy the experience I think that's not bad at all.
