What comes to mind when you hear "massage" and "massage therapy"?
Objectively, it's suppose to be a term used to promote muscle relaxation. Or it could be a form of alternative therapy for specific ailments. Some connects it with something sensual or sexual in nature...either as a prelude or as a "coded" term for a seedy encounter. There are people who took the time, money and effort to study massage therapy. But not all societies value this form of occupation as being reputable, notwithstanding gender biases. Does it have a positive or negative connotation? What do you think? |

Its a profession. One should respect it !

Its a profession. One should respect it ! Not all professions/occupations are necessarily deemed respectable/reputable by all societies/populations. But thank you for your opinion. |

It feels great to be massaged...all the way !!

I don't like being touched by anyone but my man. I stay away from massages from strangers, even if it is their vocation.

I don't like being touched by anyone but my man. I stay away from massages from strangers, even if it is their vocation. Not even if you were injured and he was a really cute physical therapist...? |

Ugly, horny men, that can't get laid & want to have sex with an Asian woman. * Well.. you asked me, that's what I have heard for 40 years * |

I was curious to know if the perception has changed, and if by how much. There has been a surge in health spas everywhere, and massage is part and parcel. Some offer home service, too. |

The surge is where ? Manila Capital of Philippines? |

Since my ex wife was and is a Massage Therapist, and works in a REAL medical facility... and one of my children plans on doing the same thing, I know that it is NOT just a cover story for a sex-for-money scam.
However, if you see the words massage PARLOR, chances are extremely good you've found a place where at least some sexual favors are performed for money, disguised as "massage" in order to get around prostitution laws. |

I believe it depends on the country. In the U.S., they are considered respectable.
It doesn't matter if the masseuse is male or female. I don't like being touched by strangers, even if it is their vocation. |

I pulled some muscles in my back years ago. The doctor just shot it up with Cortisone which wasn't that effective. Eventually, I went to a massage therapist who rubbed the lactic acid out of the muscle tissue til the pain stopped.

Having had to take some thorough therapy courses for my husbands physical needs during his long illness - remission and then his reocurrance of his cancer; the #1 course I enjoyed & he benefited from was my 'reflexology certification!
Reflexology - working the pressure points of our hands & feet and massaging those spots to aide in: pain relief - tension - blood circulation . improved digestion problems . Migraines relief! And as hubby would explain; if you've never had your feet massaged - then you are a IDIOT...and are missing out on a expierance like no other! And this from a man that didn't like ANYONE touching his feet...EVER! |

You can touch my feet. Oh - I would if I could. My elder care old guys told me that having their feet massaged was 'better'n SEX' --- I & about those comments...especially when my clients were old friends but were clients at different times - months apart! It made my happy to send them on their way to heaven with those 'HAPPY THOUGHTS' in they're last memories on earth |
