Does anyone know what personality traits are compatible/incompatible?
Can you name all of the personality traits? Because to some people there are 3-5. To others about 16. To even others there's over 4000. Are you talking about the "big 5" theoretical personality traits of agreeableness, conscientiousness, extroversion, neuroticism, and openness? Used in psychology to describe personalities in generalities? I think I have to assume you mean those since you use conscientious and extroversion. For example someone who is highly conscientious will they struggle with someone who is low in that trait? Extrovert vs introvert
Maybe. Or based on how someone lands on the other personality traits the difference in that one particular area may ultimately be negligible meaning there is no struggle. I don't think the global labels are meant to be used without understanding or identifying the corresponding subset of trait factors. You can't be just a "highly conscientious" person and nothing else. You have a level among all personality traits. Like the Myers Brigg where you'rr like an INTJ. Not just an "I," or "N." Where people highly "I" may or may not struggle with highly "E." The other 3 letters are just as important. |

There are sites where you can take the Myers Briggs if you want to

There are sites where you can take the Myers Briggs if you want to I think they are wonderful tests I haven't found any free complete testing sites have you.. I have only seen the abbreviated ones.. Those are way to general and not concise IMO... |

Well that's true might be a shorter form but they do explain the different traits

Doesn't Cosmo have these tests in nearly every issue?

I understand that Factor 5 or Big 5 are the most validated personality measures. Myers Briggs, although interesting, seems to have been discounted. I am interested in whether someone with a high level of one trait would clash with someone with a low level of that trait.
Someone who is highly neurotic may worry whether the low neurotic person likes them but visa versa the low neuroticism person probably just thinks the other is a little crazy but harmless! |

There are a few sites that allow you to do personality tests. One that has a different twist is whoareyoudating.com that allows you to do one on your date based on their profile. Not sure on accuracy.
Finding a way to compare the traits for compatibility is what I am trying to find out. |

Well, as I mentioned in another forum topic, I won't date shy men. As I like a man who can be open with me. I can get quite shy, though. Our different personalities help balance each other out. I can calm him down. Whereas he can help me to be more confident. A bit like ying and yang.

Read these guidelines below and draw a picture of yourself using these four elements..
The four elements - Earth, Air, Fire and Water, are said to have a lot in common with our personalities. Earth: Seeing is believing Positives - Realistic, Practical, Reliable Negatives - Materialistic, Narrow-minded, Inflexible Air: Mind over-rules the heart Positives - Intelligent, Objective, Broad-minded Negatives - Over-analytical, Insensitive, Aloof Fire: I came, I saw, I conquered Positives - Confidence, Independent, Assertive, Negatives - Arrogance, Selfish, Angry Water: Sea of Emotions Positives - Sensitive, Intuitive, Nurturing Negatives - Over-sensitive, Subjective, Dependent Each one of us has all four attributes in varying degrees, either in dominant or in weak forms. So what's your mental make up? |

You're wrong... Personality is what you like to show to the world...and character is what you do when no one is looking..!! |

You're wrong... Them brains! (and I ain't even one of the undead!) I was thinking, that even if our personalities mesh well, this says nothing about her or my character. And that too can make or break the relationship. I understand it being used as one of many tools I reckon...but I prefer to learn about someone the regular way. Trial and error. |

Trial and error. that sounds good... trial and error... but is a matter of on here or off line ... an all a matter of what you want to put up with in a person ... I am looking for someone ...I have never experience life like that in my own life to be with ... and hope to find a great compatibility with them ... I have looked at my patterns with the past ... and know what I like and what I don't like ... and what I have gone through ... I know men are different... an believe my Mr. right for me is out there ... just as others Mr.or Ms rights are for others ... |
