Topic: where do you live? | |

Middle of nowhere Illinois in a place I call BFE. An hour from the capital. Nothing to see here but rednecks and corn fields.
This is pretty close to what I see everyday |

I live in the Beautiful state of Alaska..
Land of Winter ice sculptures Land of the Northern Lights Land of the Midnight sun... But the heart of my hearts will always be Sitka |

^^^^^^ Oh that is just mean... You're right, it is. I apologize Rug. It's all good. You was right. I probably wouldn't like to live there either. Too much sun, I burn too easily. However, I do love to swim. Decisions, decisions.... |

My panoramic view of the 'Flint Hills' of KS Spring Time Burning of the Flint Hills Large Bluestem Grasses; it controls the weeds and keeps the cedars saplings from taking over these lush pastures for grazing and it's the way that 'Mother Nature' took care of the might bluestem for centuries! Lighten storms - wild fires, burning across the plains! After the pasture burns and the spring rains come and then this is what the rolling hills look like >>> What the tall bluestem looks like late fall when the cattle are off the pastures and in the feed lots for finishing up! And yes, many ranchers still raise the majestic Buffalo...just south of me 10minutes! And yes, we have these horrible wind driven things: cyclones/tornadoes...sounds like a freight train without the horn! |

I have been to Flint Hills a few times it has its own style of beauty As a young person I always longed to leave this place and live in the mountains...dreamt about that and planned for it; now I'm like...if only I could still sit astride a horse for long hours --- I'd be out there riding! Love the wide open spaces and the wildlife and at night --- OMG the stars are 2 die 4! |

And then the best kept secret of nz .. My greatest love .... http://youtu.be/htzexfbbVoc http://youtu.be/ymKvqZPpVy8 Love the Orca's and Dolphins...I just could never go to our Sea World and watch them do those STUPID TRICKS that they've forced those majestic mammals to learn and to keep them in those little ponds/pools...just seems so inhumane to me! But I've felt the same way about circus lions/tigers/bears and especially those unfortunate elephants too! |

Blondey...So pretty thanks for sharing. I loved Sitka... I did regret leaving almost as soon as I did it... I would love watching all the whales and our dolphins up here look like mini orcas ... Talk about making you feel small be in a Kayak minding your own business and have a stellar sea loin come up and roll besides you..Talk about feeling part of the food chain all over again... 2OLD....Where Pancho lives is the rolling plains and that does take some getting used to..But hey we can always visit my beloved mountains and Sea.. |

My high school buddy in Anchorage has been nagging me for years to come stay; now she's B & M about the heat wave and I'm dealing with colder/chilly weather then she's had --- UGH Another friend just ended her 5th year up on the North Purdue Bay and she's working her 2nd year at Denali National Park as a bus driver! She's really enjoying the hiking paths on her down time --- just wish she'd take more 'BEAR' prevention items with her! Rug212001...you neglected to tell us what mountain that was - is it McKinley??? |
