Honesty is the best way to get success in life

First, you need to define which version of meaning of the following words, to which you are referring:

1. Honesty.

2. Best.

3. Way.

4. Get.

5. Success.

6. Life.

I think we can roll with "is," "the," "to," and "in".

Obviously, DIShonesty has worked tremendously well for a LOT of people to gain the particular kind of "success" they were after.

Being "honest" in the manner that I believe in (it's a complicated and subtle mix of honor, factuality, tact, belief, and consideration for others) has been TREMENDOUSLY successful for me, in terms of allowing me to face myself in the mirror every day.

But it has made me an utter failure in a large number of other ways.

Okay.
Honestly, I have no desire to have a job so I just quit.
Honestly, I really just want to lie on my back all day and have lingerie clad women hunt me down because their sole desire in life is to feed me pizza's that extend my life, health, and youth.

Yay! Success! I win! I get success in my life.

(looks around)

Awww maaannn...

How has honesty made you into a failure?

In various job related situations, the people who took my ideas and pretended they were their own, got promoted over me.

When I was in Sales, the people who flat out lied and cheated customers had MUCH higher incomes than I ever did.

In the dating world of my youth, just as it is often true today, people who could lie the best, tended to "get" more dates and "fun." The old saying " 'Sincerity - if you can fake that, you've got it made.'" is most true, in that arena.

Granted, I never wanted the kind of "success" they managed, and still don't, but that's exactly my point: how you interpret the word "success" is critical to answering whether "honesty is the best policy" or not.

Well I thought I had failed in a job interview once when I was asked by the interviewer what I thought about something... I couldn't for the life of me come up with a sugar coat..
I bluntly told him that I would never do it, I couldn't be paid enough to do it.
Nope I didn't get the job and at the time I was really bummed... I so wanted what I thought was a plum job...

Two years later I became that persons supervisor..laugh

Yes true....but not everyone that has achieved success have done it in an honest way. Ever heard of the phrase ''dirty money ''.
Yet honesty has still always been best
