We've been kicking a lot of threads around about 'SEX EDUCATION' in our public schools...but this --- this just took it up into a whole new level!
Set aside for a minute that this teacher had such a utter lapse in judgment about proper conduct with minors; but this is the 21st century and those kids have all sorts of media tools at their disposal and none of the adult decision making skills to handle such adult issues like this!!! SMH - FOOLS - What Fools we seem to be placing in our schools {not all} but quite a few really rotten apples are slipping through the gaps! Ga. middle school teacher arrested for letting kids have sex in classroom
Posted 7:04 pm, May 20, 2015, by Tribune Media Wire STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — A teacher was fired from his job and charged with a crime after he was accused of allowing students to have sex in a classroom closet. A parent discovered text messages between her 14-year-old son and middle school math teacher Quinton Wright. 'I was in a state of disbelief when I read all these messages,' the parent, who asked to remain anonymous, told WSBTV. 'Basically he's allowing the students to have sex in a storage room in his classroom.' The texts, according to the mother, indicated her son could have sex in the classroom from 7:30 to 8:30. In one text, the teacher asked the teenager if he told the girl what was going to happen and that she could not tell anyone. Another text indicated the teacher did not have condoms to provide. 'It's very sickening and disheartening because we trust administrators and educators when we drop our kids off at school,' the mother said. The mother pulled her 8th grader from school on Friday and then filed a complaint. The DeKalb School System later removed the 25-year-old teacher from the classroom. A judge later issued a warrant for Wright's arrest on four misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. http://fox4kc.com/2015/05/20/ga-middle-school-teacher-arrested-for-letting-kids-have-sex-in-classroom/ |

Hmmmmm, a teacher at only age twenty-five. I question whether the teacher was fully mentally developed. Twenty-five seems a bit young to fully grasp life experiences. We're always hearing how by age eighteen, you're a "fully grown adult", but my mind tells me otherwise. I've known some of my friends who didn't even want to hurry into adulthood, because why rush it? And I've seen a few people in their twenties who have only just grasped what being an adult is REALLY like. TV makes it look easy. It would depend on the individual. Could they really handle sex, when suddenly facedwith a naked body in front of them? I've known a few people to make excuses, to get out of having sex. They chose to get drunk at a bar, and to have one night stands. Well, they only have themselves to blame. Then they cry about not being able to keep a man around for long enough. Boo hoo. Good job I don't follow their lead.

I hope you aren't trying to imply that this proves that the idea of sex education is a bad idea.
If you are, then open the flood gates: no matter what the subject matter, someone somewhere has abused it to commit horrid and or irresponsible and or destructive acts. Thus, if individual incidents prove the overall concept is "bad," then just put an end to all education everywhere, right now. |

Well, if according to his DOB he was able to graduate HS by his 17th birthday - finished his required number of courses for his teaching degree {and that varies from state to state - I DO NOT KNOW WHY}...yes, he'd be able to have his teaching credentials by 25 but not be a tenured teacher to that school district at that age! But stories such as this and those sordid ones of the teachers {mostly women} having sex with young 14yr old teen male students --- UGH Just makes me cringe and I would be livid had that happened to my son while he was going to school! WRONG - WRONG - WRONG on all levels---WTF can't people be responsible anymore??? |

Ga. middle school teacher arrested for letting kids have sex in classroom...Set aside for a minute that this teacher had such a utter lapse in judgment about proper conduct with minors
I don't see it as much different than parents that say something like: "kids are going to have sex anyway, I want them to do it safely and supervised, so I let them have sex under my roof." Or "kids are going to drink anyway, I want them to do it safely and supervised, so I let kids party at home." Or "kids are going to try drugs anyway, I want them to do it safely and supervised, so I let them smoke pot and stuff at home." And those attitudes don't seem all that uncommon. I don't see teachers having utter lapses in judgment about proper conduct with minors any more than most parents. If anything it seems preferable for this crap to happen with teachers...because teachers can be held accountable. Most parents screwing up their kids get away with it scott free. Here's what gets me: 'It's very sickening and disheartening because we trust administrators and educators when we drop our kids off at school,' the mother said.
Why trust administrators and educators? Administrator and educator are job titles for people. Why would an administrator or educator be more trustworthy than supermarket manager, or attorney. And is the mom blaming the teacher for coercing her son to try and have sex? The teacher should be persecuted, but so should the kid and parent(s) in my opinion. If what the kids were doing isn't considered "bad" then the teacher didn't really do anything wrong. But if what the kids are doing is seen as "bad," and the teacher is in trouble for helping to facilitate something "bad," then the kids should be in just as much trouble as the teacher. |
