Hello, my name is Fidel and I am an alcoholic.
I've been clean and sober for a few 24 hours, but let me tell you what my sponsor says to me: "Longevity is a beautiful thing, but all we really have is today. The hours turn into days, the days into weeks, the weeks into months, and the months into years. Yet, it all boils down to taking things as they come on a daily basis. Stick to it, go to meetings, breath in, breath out and don't drink in between." At meetings you'll find some true friends, also. Keep on keepin' on!!
Your new friend, Fidel

Steve! Darlin, I didn't know, you should have told me! But, you picked yourself up, dusted yourslf off and began again, that's the important thing. Keep doing that. You know you can call on me for anything you need! flowerforyou flowerforyou

Hi Steve, Dennis here... I first quit drinking in 2002, but I have slipped a few times myself. You are absolutely right. I think I can count my true friends on one hand, and I hear that's not uncomon. Don't look back Steve, it all uphill from here bro... Now, if I could just give up the cigarette's...

Stevil you know who your freinds are and you know what you have to do. I got the power to control the things I can and I have the patience not to kill those who get in my way and the wisdom some days to know the difference. Ha ha lol. If anything my freind attempt to make amends. And overall look at your accomplishments since your life changed. You know where you want to go and what you want to do. Hope that helps a little.

Hi Stevil -- I'm Twitch and an alcoholic. I've been sober 15yrs one day at a time. One thing I've learned in the rooms is people, places and things will get you drunk. If you are serious about sobriety hon you've got to let go of these things. I know it's hard but we are talking about your life. If you decide to go into a 12 Step program after treatment, no one in the rooms of AA will ever turn their backs when you are down. If you ever need to talk you can always drop me an e-mail. Hang in there, people really do care and want to help you.
Good Luck

Steve...I think that people who have never had that type of problem, they just don't understand. I myself have never had any kind of problem like that...but I would never turn my back on a friend. I am the type of person that once I am your true friend..I am your friend for life. Obviously, they are not your true friends.
In the end, all you can do is focus on you and keeping yourself sober. We all do need friends but we need friends that are going to be there for us through the good times and the BAD!!!
I wish you luck flowerforyou

Well,... you can’t blame them, and since you are an adult, save yourself.
