Mmmmm near total recall after age 18 months..earliest recollection
is my dad walking the red wagon up and down the hills of Oakland, CA, on the way to and from the bank. I was smallest and youngest so when we went uphill I was always put in front and downhill, in the back of the wagon. This really pissed me off. We had to pass the small corner grocer...who had the same name as me so when we went in I would holler "'fake name here', I AM here!" And he would rush out and let me pick candy from the huge display of glass. Just before I was 3 we moved to the suburbs and began the American Dream :-) I was reading by then so I automatically memorized all the license plates (my height) in town. Ours was 'EMB788.' |

I was 3 years old. And only had dolls to play with. I would take their heads off. And one doll as big as me, I would drag it down the steps by it's feet.
I overheard my parents in the kitchen. My mom said ' what are we going to do? She doesn't like dolls'. And my dad said ' I will find something she likes'. And he left. Later he came home with a camouflage tent, a variety of toy guns, grenades & an army helmet with fake leaves. I was so happy! I used to watch the TV show 'Combat' with my dad. Everyday my mom set up up tent in the yard. Except when ' Combat' was on.. then my dad & I took over the livingroom. Oh joy ! Eventually my female relatives stopped buying me dolls. And all kinds of toys & books showed up. With my father's approval. |

Age 3, was outside playing in the sandbox, while my mom, and grandparents were painting the house. I had gotten a lil thirsty and noticed a cup sitting out that had clear liquid in it. Assuming it was water, I took a drink of it. It wasn't water, *spitting it out* my Grandma had noticed me doing that. She saw the cup I was holding and instantly freaked out. Turns out that the cup had contained Mineral Spirits....

I was around 3 or 4 and I lived in the country of Georgia where I was born. Someone gave me bubble gum to chew and I mastered it without swallowing. I remember my brothers and cousins were laughing with pride that I was chewing gum. Cute memory.

I was about 3 or 4. I was alone in the basement of our house playing or something. Out of no where, I had an overwhelming feeling of sadness and to get upstairs to see my Mom. I had no idea why. I ran up and found her in the kitchen on the phone, crying and very upset about something. I went to comfort her. She put down the phone and we just hugged and I asked her what was wrong. I don't remember much else.

I remember when I was in Pre-K, my cousin Betty would sometimes pick me up from school and we would go to a family member's workplace (he worked at a xerox like printer house) and he ALWAYS gave me a quarter. You guys wouldn't believe all the candy I would buy with that quarter.
I don't know how I'm able to remember things that happened that far back, but funny enough, I have A LOT of memories from when I was just 3 or 4. Good times! |
