Here's some honesty for you.

First, when talking to people you may be interested in, don't use text speak. Take the extra time and write out everything you wish to say. Sure it takes longer, but it is vastly more likely that you'll get a reply if you show you took some time.

Second, make sure to say more than a sentence or two. I don't know what you've written folks, but if you say something witty or open up about yourself a little bit, you'll have better luck.

Third, if the self description part of the profile isn't filled out with more than "I'll tell you later" or "hi," the odds are the person you're emailing doesn't actually exist - or if they do they are just trying to get you to come to some other site, probably porn. Also, check when the last time they were on - if it's over a month ago, they probably aren't checking their messages anymore.

I'm sure others will chime in and give you better advice than me, but I hope this helps in some small way.
