I know true love. Unfortunately my ex was an abusive drunk. I still know what real love is and won't let the ex decide that. I was brought up better than that. I don't believe in generalizations and will NOT hold all men accountable for what I I have been though. Sorry but it's a touchy subject with me

Understand that True Love is something that comes with time. What you are describing is infatuation. That is the starting point. When you truly love someone it has to be the complete person that is loved not their outward appearance only. If you are all that you say you are and that your desire is not just lust then you would have patience and the will and conviction to allow the feeling to develop. People need to go through a lot of stuff together before you start spouting the 'Love' word.

Girls don't, but women do ... I was waiting to hear this. Thank you saying Leigh. I have made it a point to avoid using the word girls and boys and use women and men. I believe it allows us to denigrate the sexes.

... possess, ... even worship... I find these terms abhorrent when referring to a healthy relationship. I believe these ideas lead to abusive relationships. They remind me of power and control which is central to abuse.

Look at what type of women you attract as they're a reflection of your own thoughts and convictions concerning love, women and relationships. Once you get that clear, you can change whatever needs to be changed in yourself so you start attracting different people in your life.

I was never brought up with fairy tales. I had real life. My dad died while serving his country when I was 7 and I was taught by my mother to be a strong woman with or with out a man YES ...I was going to say something along these lines, but you said it just fine! Also, I agree 100% with Leigh and DadCat about the "women and men" vs "girls and boys". ARE we adults or children?!
