I'm a big Abbott & Costello fan. Even own the DVD set: Abbott & Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection. Plus their non-Universal films. And Lou Costello's solo and final film The 30 Foot Bride of Candy Rock.
Also the Ma & Pa Kettle movies (which were spun off from The Egg And I) I own all 28 films in the Blondie & Dagwood franchise, I think Arthur Lake is one of the more underrated psychical comedians. I like some of Bob Hope's work especially The Ghost Breakers, and his and Bing Crosby's Road To franchise. Some of the lesser known comedy teams I enjoy: Hugh Herbert & Allen Jenkins (Sh! The Octopus is silly fun) Robert Woolsey & Bert Wheeler Ole Olsen & Chic Johnson The British duo Arthur Askey & Richard Murdoch (especially The Ghost Train) The Topper Trilogy, and other Cary Grant comedies like Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House, Monkey Business, Arsenic & Old Lace, Bringing Up Baby. George Washington Slept Here with Jack Benny is great. The Thin Man movies The Bowery Boys films No Time for Sergeants with Andy Griffith and Don Knotts is hilarious. And of course Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, and Jerry Lewis' solo work. |
