Police Fire Over 600 Rounds Into Vehicle, Killing Innocent Woman Police officers in the City of Stockton, California says its officers are not to blame for firing over 600 rounds into a disabled SUV, hitting an innocent hostage more than 10 times. It all happened after armed bank robbery suspects took off in the SUV with a hostage. The police knew this much, but it didn't cause them a moment's pause when they unloaded magazine after magazine full of rounds into the vehicle, suspects and hostage. Now, the family of Misty Holt-Singh, the hostage who was riddled with bullets, is considering filing suit against the City of Stockton and the Stockton Police Department for how they handled the July 17th robbery and high speed chase. http://theantimedia.org/police-fire-600-rounds-vehicle-killing-innocent-woman/ |

They must have been following protocol....target is moving....mobilise target immediately
yet how careless |

Seems odd they wouldn't have shot the tires and engine and then tried to talk them out.

Seems odd they wouldn't have shot the tires and engine and then tried to talk them out. Interesting idea, but here in California, cops are less likely to carry weapons that would penetrate an engine block. They'd have a 9mm or 10mm side-arm and a shotgun in the cruiser. Some forces like L.A. have assault rifles in the trunk. This is more likely a case of cops not getting word of a hostage, and figuring it's just armed and desperate suspects in the vehicle. Still wrong for several reasons, but with present-day cut-backs, it's too common that police forces don't properly train their officers. |

the way things been going lately, i'm surprised they didn't just take the SUV out with one or two shots from a rocket-propelled grenade launcher.........any more than that, and they could possibly be subject to indictment by a grand jury for the use of excessive force

I would also get excited by all them guns but no action to use them

They must have been following protocol....target is moving....mobilise target immediately yet how careless One death is better then countless deaths they thugs would have caused. |

An Engine will disable without that! Cooling-System,Lubricating and Electric and Fuelsystems are much more vulnerable! Unless you propose to have a .50 Cal Barrett in the Trunk of every Prowlcar! |

They must have been following protocol....target is moving....mobilise target immediately yet how careless One death is better then countless deaths they thugs would have caused. You need to read the article..... "The city has refused to accept responsibility for its actions," Bentley explained in a statement. "Stockton police officers fired over 600 bullets at a disabled vehicle with full knowledge that Misty was inside - of the bullets that struck Misty, every single one was fired from a member of the Stockton police." Shooting 600 rounds at an already disabled vehicle! |

They must have been following protocol....target is moving....mobilise target immediately yet how careless One death is better then countless deaths they thugs would have caused. that's a terrible quote.... the person was a innocent hostage. If it was your daughter you would not have made that statement. |

They must have been following protocol....target is moving....mobilise target immediately yet how careless One death is better then countless deaths they thugs would have caused. Can't even remotely agree with this. The loss of one innocent through improper action is not justified. There are better and safer methods to immobilize a vehicle. Any of which would have led to Officers not killing an innocent. How to stop a car - spike strips, electromagnetic pulses and the SQUID Any of these and well placed snipers would have saved a life, possibly three. |
