I have a quest! This quest is to find a bunch of old TV shows that I used to watch as a kid, but are no longer available, and to uncover even older shows that I hear were good. I am doing this because 1) I remember that I liked most of these shows, and wish to relive the halcyon days of my childhood, 2) because a lot of stuff in these shows went over the head of an 8-year-old kid, and I want to look at them with adult eyes, and 3) I wish to preserve some of them so I can show my children.

So, the question is this: Do any of you know where I can find/download/buy the list of following shows (preferably through digital downloads or online; I'm trying NOT to become one of those people with a video rack that takes up an entire wall)? I'd like something a little more formal than YouTube or Hulu, because I don't want to have to go back to a website every time I want to watch something. Have any of you seen these available on the Kindle/tablet device? Or perhaps an entire TV series available in one compact set of DVDs I can order?

Of course, the rest of you can post shows or movies you're waxing nostalgic for, so that we can hopefully cross-pollinate and see if we can help each other find what we're looking for. And, hey, it's something to do for date night! (Or not-date-night!)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (original '80s version; the newer/est versions are just... meeeeeeeeh...)

Shows though, were Nickelodeon shows called "Salute Your Shorts". I was always mad if I missed that, or " Wild, and Crazy, Kids" when I was like 9-10 years old.

I thought about putting "Salute Your Shorts" on the list, but I don't remember finding that show all that funny. "Salute Your Shorts" is on the Kindle, but you have to pay for it on an episode-by-episode basis, and that's not cost-effective. ($2 an episode!)
Though thank you for reminding me to put Scooby-Doo on the list.

If you do Netflix streaming, both Xena and Hercules are available.

The Addams Family the complete series is available to buy in a pack, but it's not cheap, Amazon has it for around $40.

I'm not sure Dark Shadows will ever be cheap as a whole because it's 1225 episodes, but Amazon does have it in a set for almost $350.

Seeing as you mention Xena and Hercules, there was the short lived Wizards & Warriors that ran for 1 season in 1983. It had the same feel and tone as those later shows- fantasy, comedy, adventure. Amazon has the complete series for $20-30.

Can you buy shows for download from Netflix, or do you always have to stream from their site? I'd like something that I can have permanently, perhaps stored on another device, so I can keep them for posterity.

I guess for Dark Shadows, I'll have to bust out some gift cards to pay for the Kindle version - though they're asking $40 PER SEASON (40ish episodes per season, but still!).

Yeah, they're not cheap, if that whole DVD collection would drop a couple of hundred I'd definitely get it, but not $345.

If you like Westerns, try "Cheyenne".
The Twilight Zone reboot had some great episodes, as did the Outer Limits reboot. YouTube has one of my favorite episodes complete, "Her Pilgrim Soul".
The rebooted series had a cool underlying theme in seemingly unrelated stories/episodes that culminated in a very twisted finale.

Farscape is included in its entirety on Amazon Prime (on the Kindle). Four seasons, right? Very last episode "Bad Timing", with the final message "To Be Continued..."? Puppets are so much better than CGI.

The final installment of Farscape is a 3 hour feature called "Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars". It wraps up the story that left everyone hanging when SyFy channel cancelled it between seasons4-5.
